The subject of this post does not warrant a lot of merit in terms of importance, since the obvious goal of Kings team for upcoming regular season 05-06 is all about getting Ws and playoff positioning, and not who scores most, but just out of curiosity:
How do you think the scoring average of our starting 5 will play out?
Let's suppose good health, and starters play on average 35-40+ minutes per game.
Here's my guess:
Peja >>>>> 24 points per game
Mike Bibby >>>> 20 points per game
Shareef Rahim >>>> 15 points per game
Bonzi >>>> 15 points per game
Brad Miller >>>> 12 points per game
I base these predictions on the fact that Peja and Bibby are still our most lethal shooters, and with Bonzi and SAR post threats....defenses must honor them to give our shooters open looks. I also anticipate Bonzi will get a lot of chippy baskets in fast break and half-court sets as an opportunistic cutter and driver to the hoop. And I look for Brad Miller scoring average to decline as he returns to a role of more of dirty work player, and being a facilitator from the high post. He is also so unselfish, and being on the court with 4 scorers, he will take less shots.
Also I expect Mike Bibby to make his first all-star team next year and erase the memory of a dismal playoff, and Peja to play for a max contract and silence his critics....with these incentives in front of them, their scoring averages will not slip much even with the addition two new scorers to our top five.
