Um, guys...those were the teams' records LAST year, not predictions for this one.

This one was good: :D

30 (30) Raptors -- Raps' outlook isn't that bleak. Most staffers agree that they'd rank as high as second if we did power rankings for the Israeli league.

Suprise to me especially Brick, is how good Charlie has been in pre-season. Maybe it's just pre-season but if he plays anywhere near that level he would definitely be a solid pick for the Raptors and for their future.

I'm an optimist, but we really hae no idea HOW good we are since Kings ball depends so much on a cohesive offense. We could end up being 4th or we could be 15th. Personally I can't wait till we get a few regular season games under our belts. I'm pretty optimistic.

We could end up #6 - considering we already have the statue and all.

;)

This happens every year to some extent. People place WAY too much importance on some silly numbers of a piece of paper. Those numbers don't affect any games, they don't determine playoff seedings, etc. They're good for message board fodder and nothing else...

The only way I'd be worried is if we weren't on the list at all.

Still, we all like to fancy ourselves as knowing the game, and having opinions so we get sucked into debating these weekly ratings time after time.

IMO - I don't think it would be going out on a limb to say Miami, SA, Denver, Detroit, Indiana, Phoenix, and Dallas are more talented than the us. I don't think it's that close, in fact.

Someone would have to truly shine for us to climb ahead of them in the rankings. To me that is what I am hoping for. I don't think we're beginning the season with equal ammo to these other seven teams. Hmmm. Seattle should be higher than #17. Allen is a superstar, and he proved it against us and San Antonion last year.

Granted and I have no problem whatsoever in debating... ;)

I just don't put much stock in what Marc Stein, or Charley Rosen, or other long-time Kings-detractors have to say. I think most of us know coming out of the gate that they aren't going to look fondly on the Kings, regardless of what may or may not have happened since their last "assessment".

To be totally honest, I think a lot of the people who post on this board on a regular basis put Stein, Ford, Rosen, etc. to shame, both with their basketball acumen AND their writing.

:D

I think we are, yet again, rated too low.
Bah; you can always count on fans of every team that isn't ranked #1 to invariably think that their favorite team is ranked too low... :|

I normally wait until the season actually starts, but I have duty, and I'm bored, so let's get things started early:

not yet...

wait for it...

almost there...

I think he needs to get fired, someone to throw his garbage andnever wtite again in public, or rip his pencils and writing utensils AWAY!!

:D

According to the LA Times, Kings get no respect from SoCal media. 11th place, behind the dreaded Lakers and one slot ahead of the T-Puppies. (If the link doesn't work, just go to the online sports page of the LA Times and scroll around.)
No Love for Sactown

I think this guy has the Kings about right, I am sorry to say. Spurs will be great. No question. However, I think the Miami Heat will be near the top of the list after the smoke clears.

The Kings are in a different situation than I can ever remember. They are truly in flux. We really do not know how well they will work together at mid-season. They could flop their way into the playoffs, or they could totally bomb, or they could become a very special team. We just don't have enough information to reliably speculate on the future. There are too many new guys and there have been too few game-minutes as a solid unit. It's a crap-shoot IMHO.

Ahead of us: San Antonio, Indiana, Detroit, Miami

Probably ahead of us: Houston, Denver, Dallas

Possibly ahead of us, or possibly not: Phoenix (more likely end of year than now), Cleveland, New Jersey

Behind us, but if everything breaks just right could pass us: Chicago, Golden State, Seattle

Can only catch us if things really fall apart for us: Lakers, Utah, Memphis, Milwaulkee, Minnesota, Philadelphia

I'll believe it when I see it: Clippers, Washington, New York

I won't believe it even if I see it: Portland, New Orleans, Atlanta, Toronto, Orlando, Boston, Charlotte
