Potential Free Agent/Trade/Sign Tracker, '25-'26 Season

They’re completely different players though. Turner isn’t mobile enough to really guard on the perimeter, which sorta forced Domas to always guard down whenever they were on the floor together. Evan Mobley is quite possibly the most mobile 7 foot tall defensive big in the history of the NBA
KG would not be happy with this statement

Mobley's versatility is useless next to Domas if Domas is a traffic cone, I know we are trying really hard to convince ourselves that it would work but the truth would come to light in a timely manner

Woof.

The opinion of domas on this forum has certainly become "something".

If you think Mobley can't work next to Domas, then literally nobody can. Which on turn, means you think Domas is useless.

Melo doesn’t play winning basketball. Takes a ton of bad shots

He probably does take some bad shots, but it’s literally him and Miles Bridges as scoring options and not much else. Brandon Miller has potential, but he’s been inconsistent so far.

I’d want to see what he can do next to a guy like Domas in the halfcourt and running with a guy like LaVine on the fast break.

Domas has his usefulness but there are far too many variables at play here if you want to have a strong defense that can advance in the postseason and I'm afraid having him being a starter and this becoming a reality is not realistic in my view.

Turner is slow. He’s nowhere near the athlete Mobley is.

no doubt. Turner is a paint protector but Indiana managed to build out the rest of the roster to compliment his strong points with point of attack defenders in Nesmith & Nembhard despite having Hali

Huh?

He's a great player and a very good rim protector, but he's not a defensive unicorn. He cannot guard up 1-5.

Turner doesn't need to guard 1-5 to be impactful. We are getting too obsessed with players being able to guard all five positions when in reality he can only cover so much ground.

We need a lead guard beggars can’t be choosers I’ll take my chances with Melo

You guys think this would benefit us?
MPJ wasnt a bad defender in their championship run, and he would give us some length on the wings.

Not a fan of Kuminga, he needs to be THE guy to work out in a team, but he is far from good enough to be that dude

If you asked me a year ago I’d have said yes but at this point I’d say Lavine is a better player.

just for an example, take a look at this site and 10 games in where the Pacers rank thus far in the Postseason on defense compared to the Cavs

An example of what? The Pacers are C average according to those placements, the Cavs being stacked in the frontcourt defensively weren't much better. It's becoming more clear that the key on defense is at G/F and specifically having guards that can play 2-3 positions on defense mainly at POA. The Cavs are kind of what they are and that's not necessarily the greatest at G. Is Domas the right guy for them? Who knows, but on paper you can't come up with a better combo than Mobley and Domas. On either end. That doesn't mean it would necessarily work but right now it sounds like the Cavs defensive frontcourt and Allen in particular is catching some blame for the loss.

any trade where the Kings get Kuminga without sacrificing first round draft picks is a win for Perry. Time to work those phones Scott

That would largely depend on the money. If Kuminga tops out at what he's looked like then the Kings prospects moving forward as far as the cap are concerned don't look too great. The Kings almost can't afford the gamble at this point. Especially not until they move some salary off the books. Overpaying for other teams players when you are in the middle of nowhere is what gets teams into trouble. It could be a major win, or a major L depending on what Kuminga is and if the Kings don't start a rebuild for another season or two the Kings probably won't even truly know. Kuminga's better off going to a team that is starting from the ground up, not with where the Kings are at currently. There are too many ways that Kuminga's potential could be further minimized. Is he Harrison Barnes level? Or something more? One thing is for sure, without plenty of shots, he's closer to Barnes so far.

Since I did not know the answer to this question, I will post it here: teams can start trading as soon as their season has ended. That means the Kings can trade with any one of 26 teams right now. Wide open field.

Yeah, and in this scenario, you've gotta really believe that Doug Christie is the kind of head coach who could motivate and maximize a player like Kuminga. I don't know if I like those odds as of this moment.

Yes, with the caveat that players whose contracts are expiring, or whose contracts might end due to a player option, may not be traded. For the Kings, that means Lyles, LaRavia, McDermott, Crowder, and Fultz can't be traded. Additionally, Isaac Jones and Terence Davis cannot be traded since they were signed less than 3 months ago.

So technically, we only have 8 players who can be traded: Sabonis, LaVine, DeRozan, Monk, Keegan, Valanciunas, Carter, Keon. (Obviously that's unlikely to change much once the offseason begins, because the untradeable guys above won't be big S&T options.)

All the nba podcast guys seems to think the Celtics should mail it in next year and come back strong the following. Seems crazy to me considering they are still a playoff team and Tatum could be back by the playoffs. I know they are going to trip salary but they don’t have to blow it up to do it. Still liking a Deebo for Zinger swap if they think his respiratory thing will pass. I’m not sure what to think of Jrue, is he cooked? He didn’t have a great playoff run this year.

That is not very many people available for trading! The team does have a folder full of second-round picks that might grease the wheels, though. It would not surprise me to see the Kings try to move up in the draft if one of the guys you name is shipped out.

It's pretty notable that we just don't have any salary filler. Every guy on our roster for next year right now is a rotation player. So if salaries don't quite match, we can't just throw in Keon or something.
