Potential Free Agent/Trade/Sign Tracker, '25-'26 Season

Did Bill Simmons accidentally make a solid Kings trade for once?
(Depends on the picks coming back of course)
Simmons doesn't seem to indicate any picks are trading places.

If there aren't any picks, it's not a good first step trade in a rebuild. We would clear a good deal of salary next year (which under a rebuild we don't need to clear that badly) and Monk's salary in 2 years (but that's likely a positive-value contract).

If the only thing we get is salary cap space and then we turn around and have to hit the salary floor coming the other way...not sure why you do it. I think you can get some sort of value for Monk. At some point, you can probably get some sort of value for LaVine. For the Kings, this is kind of giving up if there's not a pick package coming back.

Yeah, I agree with Capt. here. There's no clear indication of any picks coming to us in that proposal, so I'd want some clarification (from Bill Simmons) if he would expect to see some picks come our way in his proposed deal. If not, this would be a hard pass for me.

The ESPN trade machine doesn’t allow for picks for some reason so it’s hard to know if this is the full trade or not

The biggest value for LaVine probably happens in the summer if/when big names get moved and the other team just wants cap space and a pile of picks.

So like the hypothetical Giannis to Warriors. If they didn't want the Kuminga/Moody trade pieces, we take them on, Bucks get picks and the massive expiring and Warriors get Giannis, etc.

I don't hate the proposed deal tbh. No, it doesn't get you the pick right away, but it clears the runway for the guys who need to be playing massive minutes (Keon/Carter/Nique) and it allows you to take on bad contracts for draft capital in the summer.

70 mil in expirings is A LOT. That probably gives us a chance to go just outright sign Kuminga and/or take in contracts for capital.

I'm not really all that concerned anymore with squeezing max value out of every asset. To me, the most important thing should be getting Carter/Keon/Nique/Maxime/Cardwell on the floor and seeing them progress in their development. Along with further increasing Keegan's offensive workload and seeing what he's able to do with a 22-24% USG rate.

This. There's not a ton of value to be found amongst the Kings' current crop of veterans. Domas represents their best chance at receiving a strong trade package, but even that comes with the caveat that it probably requires a certain kind of trading partner with certain kinds of needs. So just get on with it. Snag whatever assets you can claw away from teams looking for "win now" pieces by the deadline and move the eff on from this disaster of a top-heavy roster so you can focus on getting Carter/Keon/Nique/Maxime/Cardwell significant time on the floor while positioning yourself as well as you can for the 2026 draft lottery.

I see consensus on this board. Now we just need a palace coup. Climb the ladders, overrun the battlements, straddle the moat, demolish the front gate, and take down this regime!
As an Indian myself, I certainly do not mind leading the charge. It would be rather self-gratifying to look a fellow Indian in the face and tell him that he really sucks at his job.

I would assume if picks were involved, they would be coming from the Sac side?

Turning Monk/Lavine into full expirings with no value coming from Sac would be a blessing.
If you are trying to imply that Simons, Collins, and Bogdanovic are worth more than Zach, Dario, and Malik, and that we would have to send a handful of picks out in order to make the deal work, then you are severely mistaken, my friend.

I’m curious what the Clips want to do. If they feel like the Norm Powell trade was a mistake they could make up for it with a deal like this and they get team control for one more year with Lavine. They could potentially re-sign him for cheaper after that following year. Or, do fhey want the cap space for this summer. Bogi is a team option and coupled with Collins deal that’s over 40 coming off the books (not sure if that actually makes them a cap space team given the Klaw, Beard and Zoo contracts)

I wonder if houston will make Eason available at the deadline considering they won’t resign him and they’ll need pg and half court help for the playoffs.

Would love to see guys like Eason, Duren, Kuminga targeted in a rebuild situation….whatever happens we know the kings will F it up though

You mean Detroit’s Duren? Why would they trade him to us? I do recall a proposed deal about a month ago of Duren,
Holland and multiple first for Domas and maybe Monk. Must have been something else in there for contract/salary equality. I think a lot of guys are overvaluing Domas. I hope they are right but I don’t see a haul coming back out way. A prospect and a first and salary filler and we should be happy.

expectation on return is definitely necessary. no team is giving three firsts for Sabonis or any quality prospect in return, have to hope for a mid tier prospect, a first and maybe some second rounders in a near draft

Pipe dream that maybe they feel Sabonis could put an ascending team over the top and they’ve liked monk

The Kings need to do this the right way. That means building with as few big deals on the books as possible and using rookie scale contracts to their advantage. Trade for more big money and good luck ever even being able to refine the team into something if need be. They're right back to trying to lateral move their way somewhere at that point.

I don’t know that’s the kind of chance we should take especially if we can keep our pick this year and pear him with Keegan, Nique and the pick
I would give lavine. That would be the risk id take. Hes massively injured, and not the brightest, but its better than watching lavine.
Also hes still only 24, so I can convince myself melo-nique-keegan is start of a trio

They wouldn’t even trade grant Williams for Lavine smh

Melo has stat potential how could you be against it I understand injuries but if we can pair a 20/8 ph with a top five pick this year and Keagan all of a sudden there’s hope

Lamelo is lavine just younger. Low effort career losers. Even trading lavine for him is a massive risk. You are hoping that charlotte is so toxic, coming to sac makes him want to try lol. I think id rather just let lavine expire.
