Potential Free Agent/Trade/Sign Tracker, '25-'26 Season

None of this makes sense. Maybe I’m misinterpreting Perry’s idea of what a gap year is.
He preaches defensive identity but we are getting pieces or will get that seemingly block the guys who CAN play D
We were an undersized team under Monte and we have gotten smaller
A glut of guards that’s not being fixed
We are very close to running it back with the same offensive lineup strategy to win games when we just watched it not work.

Literally has to be some moves before the start of the new season

Not signing Westbrook and seeing what we have in Carter is what makes sense. Westbrick is a big commitment when he’s blocking carters minutes why waste a year doing that how do you go into carters third season with basically no real nba playing time in his first two seasons. Russ isn’t even gonna help the team out and I’m tired of this culture bull crap that’s being pushed. The hell is set the culture when your team is old we’re not the hornets or jazz

I don’t disagree with that, I think Carter has a ton of untapped potential. My point is ownership doesn’t see it that way, so that’s not what Perry is tasked to do.

I really cant understand how this org can be so rotten from the core.
We really walked into the offseason and said "if we swap monk, laravia, jval with schroder, russ, and eubanks thats the recipe"

More of the same old crap with vivek. Worst owner in the nba by a mile
Yeah, if he doesn't land the Kuminga plane, this would go down as one of the worst offseasons we've had in a long time. Monte would be getting eviceserated, but because all the media wants access to Perry, they're kissing his ass

Forget Carter he is blocking keons minutes

This another Kings issue that never seems to fade, they always put players in front of one another that don't need to be. Last year in the final push the top two man lineup was Carter and Keon. That says they should probably be playing TOGETHER. In the end that will depend on development from Carter and need. If the Kings need a true switchable defender that can handle it's Carter. If they need basically a 3 and D SG it's Keon.

Yeah, it's somewhat confusing when a gap year is one where a team waits and sees which was the smart move. The issue is I'm not sure that's actually what Perry did. Schroder is a solid player and keeps Domas happy (for now) but that's a bag of money they paid him with already having a bag invested in others needing minutes not to mention plenty of youth needing time. If the Kings don't win at a high level Perry kind of made this more of a gap year X 2 at the very least.

It's also very unlikely the Kings can simultaneously build value in both their vets and youth at the same time. This looks like more of a "wait it out" than a gap year thing. The only thing I don't like is the partial guarantee of Schroders 3rd year. If Schroder explodes that means he's taking shots away from others anyway which decreases their value and him having some kind of unreal trade value to the point that the 3rd year is a lock for a team to value is not a high reward gamble at all. The big concern is Monk being the new K9/JT that you need to move picks to move off if if you need to. Which was honestly always the concern because history dictates players like that once paid decrease in value almost without fail.

It’s conflicting messages from Perry. Gap year usually means making sure youth develop/ get minutes, for evaluation purposes to see who will be part of the next iteration. You know you can’t compete with the bigger dogs of the conference and so you are timing and building to make a move.

Perry’s definition of gap year almost seems like taking the year to either move Lavine or Derozan or Monk or getting to the last years of the contracts. Taking the year to get to Kuminga or other younger piece that fits.

The Schroeder moves appeases Domas, I guess. But DS and Westbrook, if signed, both makes us older and block youth. Does nothing to address glut of guards. Like none of this makes sense. Not even sure Schroeder is a good fit because I’ve always thought he’s better as a score first guy which is not really different than Monk but Lavine needs his touches and DDR will get his.

Meanwhile, Keegan’s growth as a better offensive option doesn’t even have a chance. Can’t make any sense of it.
