Postgame Quotes-vs. Cleveland

rick_adelman.jpg
Kings Coach Rick Adelman
“After playing last night, especially in the third quarter, we came out and we jumped on them at the end of the first and second quarter and third quarter. A lot of guys played well and it was just good to finish a game like that and actually outrebound someone by one.”

“Open court we wanted to be sure we ran our offense well and not take quick shots because they will get to the open quart especially with James we are concerned about the guy in the middle down low and he got off to a good start. But as the game went on I thought Webb did a good job of trying to get into him. We came back on his dribble a lot quicker then we were at the start of the game. Obviously Lebron (James), we didn’t want to let him get to the rim and not let him get to the line too much. He only shot one free-throw and we wanted to make him a jump shooter. For the most part I really think the whole thing was about our energy levels at the defensive end. We were so active, if we couldn’t get the ball we tipped it and somebody ran it down. We tipped it from our bench and Mike came from the other side and ran it down. We made a lot of hustle plays like that and Cuttino (Mobley) on the open court got a number of them. It was a really active and solid win for us.

“We just felt he could do a good job on him. I thought they would start LeBron on Peja and with his size I thought he would do a better job if (LeBron) tried to post him up.”

Mike Bibby
“I was just trying to be aggressive. I think the second half of the last game I didn’t think I was that aggressive. I felt if I tired to make things happen for myself, that’s going to open it up for everybody else.”

“That last rebound was hard to get. I didn’t think I was going to get it. Everybody was trying to let me get the rebound, but it kept going the other way.”

“We played well, we helped each other defensively. We just played an all around good game.”

Brad Miller:
“There’s no such thing as easy. We just stuck with it, and contained everybody, and just played well as a team. We were doing all the little things - getting the rebounds – just everything worked well for us.”

On Bibby’s triple double:
“He was saying, ‘shoot the ball… I need three assists… I need two.’ That’s the fun part, when you can have a game like this.”

“We haven’t beat the tar out of anybody in a long time. We’ve had five point games, six point games, 10 point games. We kind of felt that kill-shot game coming. Everybody just picked it up a little more.”

Chris Webber:
“It wasn’t easy, but it was fun. Lately, we’ve felt the crowd hasn’t been as loud and we needed them to be but tonight they were there, so it felt good.”

On the Kings’ help defense:
“It’s definitely a key. But we can still improve on it because when you help-D, you always have to turn around and box somebody out. Our help defense is good but we need to recognize rebound position and I think we’ll be better.”

On Bibby’s triple-double:
“As he got close, he was telling me to shoot it. We just tried to have fun with him, we tried to pour Gatorade on him when he came in here. Everybody’s talking about chemistry and ‘this this and this.’ This is definitely one of the most fun times I’ve had here.”

CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
Head Coach Paul Silas
“The best thing about this game is that it’s over.”

Forward LeBron James
“They started knocking shots off crazy. A team making shots like that, there’s nothing you can do. We’re not one of the best three point shooting teams in the league so we can’t match three for two, so they always have the advantage.”

“It feels great. Any arena feels great; I just love to play basketball. I just try to go out and showcase my talent every night.”

“There was no zone defense. They were just icing the pick and roll, downing it. I didn’t shoot bad from the field tonight, it was just that we couldn’t get into a rhythm and they were getting into a great rhythm. They’re [The Kings] just a great team.”

“We had a tough game last night, but we don’t want to use that as an excuse. We just tried to come here and execute and we couldn’t do that.”

Guard Jeff McInnis
“We got off to a good start, but we could never bounce back. We felt like we were in the game down nine, but after the half they just came out smoking. They were playing their game hitting threes and we just couldn’t stop them.”

“They ran their offense and we couldn’t make shots when we needed to and they made them. [Chris] Webber was good and Mike Bibby was good. They were just great tonight. We have to keep the crowd out of the game. When that crowd gets into the game and gets going they make everything it seems like.”

Difference between the Rose Garden and ARCO:
“[The Rose Garden] It isn’t nothing like this one. You can’t compare the Rose Garden to this. They’re rocking every time in here regardless whether their team is winning or losing. I think the crowd here is the best in the NBA hands down, besides Cleveland.”

About the ankle:
“It’s nothing. I could have went back in, but the game was out of reach. I just went up and [Darius] Songaila just accidentally stepped on my ankle.”

i love Coach Silas's quote...

he couldn't of said it better...tell it like it is...and that was real real ugly for Cleveland

Fun for us fans, too. :)

“We had a tough game last night, but we don’t want to use that as an excuse."--then why mention it at all? sorry, but these kind of qoutes really bug me when anyone makes them.

^ he prolly had to say that due to the line of questioning or the question that the reporters asked...but yeah i understand what you are saying

I heard this on radio, and if I remember correctly, the reporter asked LeBron if playing Portland the night before effected their peformance against the Kings. So I think he was just answering the reporter's question.
