Well, wasn't able to watch this one. From the score though seemed like the M's dominated. I'm so glad to see how this team is so resilient and to think the silverstars were leading the west going into this game.

Great game by Brunson and Powell. Ticha was great too with 7 assists. Too many TOs by the PGs today though 9 in total.

All in all GREAT DEFENSIVE EFFORT!!!

Actually, the Monarchs just held their own in the 1st half. I think they had a 1 or 2 pt lead at the midway point. But, yes, they really dominated in the 2nd half. This team is proving to be a great 2nd half team. That tells me that Coach Boucek and her staff are great at adjusting at the break, not to mention that our players really turn in on when it counts.

It was good to see Bekkah have such a great game. That just may give her the confidence she needs knowing she can step up and cover with DeMya out.

Oh, I almost forgot. The ARCO faithful really cheered for Erin on her return to ARCO. She knows we still love her. Monty was so funny. He came out when Erin was introduced with a live sized cutout of Erin. It said, "I love Monty." She laughed and hid her face in her shirt. Then she acknowledged all the fan's love. :)

except for that game in PHX...

Bekkah was awesome tonight! Several times we thought she might actually try that dunk-thing :) Really felt for Yo tonight--she got that bad thumb wacked good several times. She is just such an amazon!!!

Still way too many turnovers. Heard Coach Ambers after on the radio--said she thought it was too many fancy passes that they were not ready to be using. The group I was with felt that there were too many passes that did not have the zip on them that they needed, too "soft", and easily picked off. At least they seem to not be getting called any more for illegal screens.

Glad we one by a margin--my heart needed a good win--after loosing DeMya for the season. Such a trouper--great shot on Rebkell of her and Zachara after the game.:)

Great Game last night.

What is going on with Kristen Haynie? For some reason she looks very uncomfortable, very tentative and error prone. It seems like she is not adjusting very well to Coach Jenny's system. She has an inordinate amount of turnovers, and blatant ones at that. And has she even made a jump shot yet? It doesn't seem like it.

On the positive right now it is all about Becky Brunson and Nicole Powell. When those two are on the floor together, they are outstanding. Powell is hitting the boards like I have never seen, and Brunson is now in my opinion the best player on this roster. Her energy, determination and poise in the post has elevated beyond my expectation.

was wondering the same too. If you look at the Monarch's games so far with the exception of the last 2, she actually had a better EFF rating than Ticha, while playing less minutes....

then over the last 2 games her minutes went dramatically down (down to about 13mpg from about 18.5mpg) although her LA game was good (7 assists in 14 minutes - basically a steve nash rate in terms of assists/min), one has to wonder about the sudden drop if she was performing "well enough".

up until a game ago, she was actually out-assisting Ticha while having less TOs/min and a better FG% from the field. (She didn't attempt a shot in that LA game).

is there anything wrong? I don't know...

ALTHOUGH giving gredit where credit is due, Ticha has been stepping it up lately (on every aspect of her game - scoring, FGA/M, assists)...maybe that's all there is to it...

either that or Haynie is on a very tight leash and is feeling pressured "to make the most of her minutes". I don't think she handles the pressure well quite frankly.

A comparison of our two PG's to date:(including last night)

Ticha/Haynie
MPG 20 16
PPG 6.0 3.5
FG% 41% 35%
3FG% 0% 50%
RPG 1.67 1.67
APG 3.5 3.5
SPG 0.67 0.67
TO/G 1.5 2.3

I'm not even concerned about the numbers and the minutes as I am the dumb turnovers. Last night more than once she literally threw the ball right to a San Antonio player. Her passes are being telegraphed and she does not have much on them at all.

Now I know that some of us may say she is injured, but it looks more mental than physicl to me, like her head is not even in the game.

Is is me or what?

my point was not really about the numbers...i showed them to illustrate that they (the numbers) shouldn't be the reason for the reduced minutes these past 2 games. That therefore leads one to think: is she injured? or is she "pressured to perform"? It (the minutes) was just such a big change especially in the last game. Note that in the LA game she still had a fine game with 7 assists and i think 1 TO despite playing only 14min - that time I thought Haynie's minutes got cut due to Ticha's great game, but I think there's more to it.

After reading about all the improvement in SA I honestly didn't think the Monarchs would win so handily, relatively speaking. I thought it would be more of a nail-biter. But regardless, it's a win and I'm very happy about that.:)

How about La'Tangela Atkinson.....she only played a total of 5 minutes, 2 pts, a block, like 5 rebounds. She did at times look a little confused, but I really liked her hustle. And she can jump like Bek, so I'd like to see her get a few more minutes as the season goes on.

And Scho-Time, she's really starting to show some hustle as well. She's learn lots from Chelsea. Her defense has gotten better, and she'll slash to the basket too. Her improvement looks good, and I hope she keeps it up.

Of course, Bek, I love her game. I hope she can keep doing well, and not reinjure that shoulder.

The passing, well yes that did seem very weak at times. The Monarchs always start the season slow, and should be better with the turnovers as the season progresses.

As I mentioned I was happy about this game. I'd like to see Haynie relax and play her game. Don't know what's up, but I think she'll shake it off. They're in first place in the West right now, just keep taking care of business one game at a time....

From my view I saw Haynie getting frustrated at all the contact & lack of calls. Helen Darling was bumping her & you could see it on her face, she was gettig rattled. As for her shot, sometimes she's wide open...lately not falling? She was working real hard on D'' ''I was calling for Ticha or Kara to run the show at that point. Just the same a very exciting 2nd half...Monarchs defense was the key, very impressive...I have to give props to my leader on defense ''The Closer'' Chelsea Newton. Everyone is moving, , blocking shots, causing turnovers. Maybe it's back to passing drills this week?
Along those lines the players need to come to the ball more, & always follow the shot.

On offense I too am impressed with Brunson, ShoTime, La Tangela, for their tenacity. Last my Monarch leaders...Yo, Kara, Ticha, Powelle and the well traveled vet Adrian Williams...excellent rebounding , & decent free throw shooting. A huge shoutout to the coaching staff , DeMya & the whole bench.

Now lets go send the Storm packing...
