Hey, maybe it's a good idea to start a tradition after each game to make a thread about each Monarch's game to discuss how the game went and to share each one's thoughts. Does anyone think this would be worth it?

My thoughts about the game? In a word..."BLECCHHH!!!"

Just kidding! :)

Nice to see our gals trying to fight their way back, but we came up short at the end. Cold shooting and fouls (Yo had five fouls overall) just hurt us in the closing minutes.

But give credit where it's due. Plenette Pierson had a great game: 20 points (mostly in the first half), four assists, three steals, and eight rebounds.

What's up with Coach Boucek's shimmering sky-blue blouse?

I videotaped the game. Haven't yet seen the playback, though, but I will when I get the chance. No matter what the sport, I always enjoy hear coaches and players talk during a game. And Boucek was miked up during the game. Boucek is certainly one of the more entertaining talkers! :p

I did meet up with some of our fellow fans at Hangar17 in midtown. As always, it was nice to see them again.

But as always, it was irritating to see Detroit coach Bill Laimbeer up to his old whiney self again! Even if it was his 50th birthday!

Oh, well, let's go get the Minny Lynx tomorrow!

I'm hoping that Yolanda's ineffectiveness is just a one game thing. They can not win without her.

I thought Chelsea was very solid on both ends of the court.

Bill Laimbeer sucks:mad:

Boucek seems to be the truth. I like her energy.

There is always tomorrow.

I agree, hope Yo's game was just an aberration. Maybe she is still adjusting to the new offense. I thought the offense was designed pretty well though. There were obvious screens which I felt gave good looks to our perimeter players. There were some plays that got the ball down low too but they didn't convert. There is certainly A LOT of room for improvement but all in all esp since the vets were late, I think we will improve a lot.

Boucek does seem like a good coach, she's preaching the white line too and did make really good comments to the refs which weren't obtrusive like someone else's today. She also seemed to be very encouraging to the players too. I was hoping that Kara was in the end game since we caught up to detroit with her shots, esp since we could've used her to open up the floor with her even if they wanted a two.

well, GO monarchs tomorrow!!!

I was very impressed with Chelsea's aggressiveness today. Haynie seemed more vocal and focused so I guess she is serious about being more of a leader this season. I was also happy to see Ticha looking for scoring opportunities. Oh, and it was nice to see some screens being set. :) Defense was pretty solid.

Monarchs got killed on the boards (36-22) and a cold 3rd quarter definitely didn't help. The intensity/energy level seemed a little low, but it's understandable considering the team hasn't had much time together and they're on the road.

It's a tough way to start the season, but I think this team is going to grow into something special.

As the players said today in the paper, Coach Boucek did her job, and they did not. Not much time to recover unfortunately.

I'll echo the sentiments above....(minus I think the commentary on coach's wardrobe...) I saw some things to be encouraged about definitely, they had some extremely nice offensive ball movement to get players shots. The only thing I questioned about the sideline was why Lawson was on the bench so long late in that game...I also figured too, with Newton being such an offensive threat yesterday, coach has some difficult decisions trading offense for defense. That said, I still thought Lawson could have come in a smidge earlier and they maybe could have gone with Lawson at the point or go with a 3 guard rotation and take Powell out. Then AGAIN...Powell likes to have games where she's invisible in it until you need a crucial shot, then she'll drain it. I dunno, so I may have done the same thing coach did LOL.

I saw the article in the paper and it cert"I think we take this game and build off it," Walker said. "There's nothing wrong with 33-1."It certainly seems like the players understand what they didn't do and what they can build from. That is definitely exciting (if they actually do the building they say they seem themselves needing) I culled this quote from the Bee....

"I think we take this game and build off it," Walker said. "There's nothing wrong with 33-1."

Gotta love her don't you? I think I'd find 33-1 acceptable....I mean, I kinda wanted an undefeated season and all, but I maybe coud be convinced to take a single defeat. Go on ladies....get ur first win of the long streak on...;)
