Possible Mike Bibby Trade

Purple Reign

I usually don't play the trade game but tell me if this works:

Three Team Trade - Sacramento, LA Lakers, Chicago

Sacramento
Trades Mike Bibby, '09 1st Round Pick (Lottery Protected) to Lakers
Trades Francisco Garcia to Chicago

LA Lakers
Trades Lamar Odom to Chicago
Trades Jordan Farmar to Sacramento

Chicago
Trades P.J. Brown, Andres Nocioni, '07 1st Round Pick (#9) to Sacramento

Why Sacramento would do it - Bibby is a FA, and would receive a young promising PG in Famar, two expiring contracts (but would want to hold onto Nocioni if he would stay), and another lottery pick.

Why Los Angeles would do it - Lakers would get a bonifide PG, a proven playoff star and second option to run with Kobe, and a future 1st round.

Why Chicago would do it - They would have a proven, veteran versitle, All Star caliber PF (Odom) to go along with Wallace, Deng, Heinrich and Gordon. They would also receive a young Garcia that could back up Ben Gordon and bring energy off the bench.

Will that work?

Call me crazy, but that actually makes a lot of sense to me. Chicago only does it if they come to the realization that the package they have is NOT getting Pau Gasol, and certainly not getting KG. Odom would be an attractive substitute, I think.

I'm only not sure if the Lakers do this. Odom has been terrific for them.

they're going to give up their point guard of the future and their second best player for a declining mike bibby? what are you smoking? that trade will never ever happen.

point of the future?

Highly overrating Farmar, highly underrating Bibby.

point guard of the future. ask any laker fan and they'll tell you the same thing, they're developing farmar as their pg of the future. as far as bibby, he's having one of the worst years of his career, there is no way they trade their point guard of the future and their second best player for bibby. even if bibby was having the best year in his career they still wouldn't do it. the lakers value farmar and odom an awful lot.

Lakers fans have also been rumored to compare him to Magic. Lakers fans can be idiots.

But trading Odom for Bibby is no real upgrade for the Lakers, and Lamar actually fits their system a lot better than Mike does (brain+clutch issues aside). And I really do think there might be an institutional reluctance on our part to trade with the Lakers -- too much chance for it come back and bite us in the face.

yea a few idiots compare him to magic, the majority know he is the pg of the future. i'd bet if you asked phil, buss, or kupchak you'd get the same answer.
