Positive Beno Udrih ready to roll again

It sure will be interesting to watch if Beno comes back and has another solid year, while shooting so efficiently at the same time. He should be moved to the 6th man role along with JT and co. but knowing Westphal, he will start Wright one game, Cisco one game & Udrih one game all at the 2 spot.

Agreed, why? Article quotes Coach Paul as saying Beno is likely to start (again) in backcourt next to Tyreke. Why change a good thing and if it's not broke why try to fix it? Cisco can come off the bench as main backup and energy guy, spelling either one of them. Wright is probably #4 in Kings backcourt depth chart at this point, Jeter #5.

The reason to that is always so we can maximize Reke's power advantage over opposing PGs and throw them into mismatch hell, but we'll see how it goes with Beno out there.

Also of course about getting a little more defense on the court, and the more natural three man rotation of PG/SG+ combo guard off the bench rather than PG/combo guard + SG off the bench.

What was nice about the aritcle was that the comments from the readers were so positive. People are getting excitied about the team. And kudos to Garcia and Beno for donating all those season tickets for kids.

Why? Why the hell not! Udrih doesn't have the defensive skills to guard PG's while Reke will be guarding his fair of SG's, so why not make our bench very solid with Beno, Cousins, JT and one of Greene/Casspi. That's a 8-9 man rotation if everybody plays their cards right. I prefer Cisco much more to start, he can defend and hit the open three and he hustles plenty and will help out our first unit.

The tazmanian sloveanian! prolly the most underrated king. I say we keep him in the starting 5 strictly for his leadership, he brings that vet presence and hes smart with the ball.

Agree.. Beno plays well with Evans.. Team defense > individual defense... Last year I don't think our problem was opponents outside shooting as much as it was them getting to the basket for easy buckets.

Well, he easily outplayed the still-recovering Cisco last year, so there is that. Maybe Cisco will be the one playing better this year, but I'm not going to assume that to be the case just because it'd be handy if he did.

Besides, even if Cisco does start, it's not as if we get some guarantee that 6'1" PGs are all going to shift to trying to guard Tyreke. On nine nights out of ten, Cisco is less of an offensive threat than Tyreke, and it's not like the league's coaches don't know that. Right now, that whole notion is just an untested idea, which may or may not pan out.

Well, maybe so but I myself prefer more fire power off the bench and I like the idea of having a tall starting 5 out there. It will have its advantages and dis-advantages for sure, but it's something that's not out of the realm of possibility. But, by what Westphal recently said, it looks like Beno will start.

I would rather have Beno start over Garcia:

They both have good shots. I give Beno the edge in % with no defenders on him, and Garcia the edge with, because of his height.

Defense, Garcia wins, as well as his defensive IQ ie: steals/ position. This accounts for Half of BBall, so this is a huge reason for why Garcia should start.

Offense, Beno wins. He creates for others, has a deadly pull up, and is a better passer. He is just a good pg, which garcia is not.
When I see Garcia play on offense, granted it has been a while, it seems like he misses an open man, tries to drive recklessly, or takes a bad shot. Its like he feels he has something to prove every time he has the ball in his hands. I'll have more constructive criticism of him in a few months, but for now his offense rubs me the wrong way. I do like his hot 3 point streaks tho.

If we didn't have the big men we have now, then I'd go with Garcia. But now we have shot blockers and we can mop up the loose drivers, we can afford to sacrifice a little on defense. I think Beno gets us closer to 50/50 of our potential to offense/defense. I'm not sure if diminishing returns plays a role in basketball, but seems like it should!
