Playoff Update

Nice analysis jon e thanks! The sad part is if we lose these next two we might as well lock this thread. But... I'm optimistic!

It ain't over til it's over, SKFFL.

No thread will be locked before its time.

This is a fine line of reasoning for a player, but not for a fan.

It makes a lot of sense for a fan too. If we get to .500, by definition we will have caught almost all of those teams. It will still be very tight down the stretch (.500 may very well not be enough), and in April I will be watching the standings every day. But right now...too many teams. Too early. All I know right now is if we don't push for .500 we catch nobody.

well thats one in the books. very close to a loss. tomarrow will be the day we see if the number 9 will be ours

Obviously as fans we watch to see what the other teams are doing. That being said, this is what it's going to take to make the playoffs, regardless of what happens with the other teams. 29 games left, 16 on the road, 13 at home. If the Kings can go 11-2 at home, which is feasible considering the way we are playing at home now, and play .500 ball on the road the rest of the way, which is questionable, we will be in. That would put us at 43-39 for the year, which should be good enough for 8, 7 if we're lucky. The key is playing .500 on the road. If we can't show we can do that, then we really don't deserve it. GO KINGS!!!!!

I agree completely. I would rather see us miss the playoffs than stumble in and have to lose on the road in the first round, which will happen if we can't start winning away from Arco right now.

It will feel very strange if it happens not to be rooting for the Kings in May, but we've been there before.

It ain't over til it's over, though, so I'm gonna keep hoping they can put it together and really start to click.

Problems? Oh yeah, we've still got some but there's still some time...

GO KINGS!!!

It's hard for me to imagine anything but a first round exit for the Kings, clicking or not - no matter what the circumstances... assuming they find their way into an 8th or 7th spot. Pretty pessimistic I am, but also realistic.

I don't disagree, but I'm not giving up hope for some kind of miracle. It's just the way I am, I guess...

My head knows this is still a team in transition with more gaps than Swiss cheese. My heart, however, is screaming "GO KINGS!" so loudly I can't really hear my head.

The thing is... I don't think we will be trying to catch the Lakers in April. In fack, I don't see them making the playoffs. If anything, I think we should be more worried about Houston...

Houston are indeed making somewhat of a charge again, but I don't think their health holds up, and think they lose to Phoenix tonight. If they beat Phoenix, then they're just about with us.

I just want to see us play competitive and hard, like we've been doing.

No argument, there - I certainly understand that! That's what fanhood is about. Scream for the team! GO KINGS!!!!!!!!!! :)
