Players in bold are the ones I think their teams are going to put them as priority to resign and/or are certainly out of reach for us for some reason.

Players in green are the ones we could run on them and would help our team IMO.

Players in blue are the ones I'd love and I would be extremely happy to have with us, but we would have to make some moves in order to at least stand a chance with them.

ps. Why is Kenny Thomas listed as a FA? lol

Why would someone want to re-sign Steve Francis after next year?
Because he's still a capable player, and Houston likely won't be extending his current contract. Wouldn't be surprised to see him have a quality year, though.

From what I have seen/heard his body is shot. I can't see him as a highly sought after free agent of the likes of a Tim Duncan or whatever class the thread starter had him in.

Next years free agent period will stink because most players of value won't be there. Guys like Duncan, KG, Dwight, and J. Oneal (if he gets traded) will resign or already have. The only major player will be agent 0.

Nice list but it makes a difference on which guys are going to be restricted or unrestricted.

The guys listed in green are a mixed bag.
Duhon - I'm not a fan, doesn't do anything, a backup
Delonte West - I like his versatility at a reasonable contract
Dorell Wright - not as high on this guy as others..doesn't do it for me

Blue
Maggette - I would not give a long term huge contract to him with his injury history.
Josh Smith - I would go after this guy hard. Fills up the stat sheet...but wish he had a better offensive game.

Guys listed in black
It would be tough to get any of these guys. I wouldn't mind getting Devin Harris or Jameer Nelson. I think that Gibson is fortunate to have Lebron on his team where he gets open looks...he looks like a tweener to me.

Some others to consider:
Amir Johnson - forget Dorell Wright..this is the young guy we should get
Beno Udrih - a cheap acquisition
Nenad Krstic - he's a potential all-star

Amir Johnson - forget Dorell Wright..this is the young guy we should get
Johnson already signed a 3-year, $11 million extension this offseason to remain with the Pistons.

Keep in mind that some of the people on that list will sign extensions or agree to a contract before hitting the market. Also keep in mind that unless we make a few trades for expirings, we will only have exceptions. That means we probably won't have the cash to land any significant FA's anyway.

Given this list, I would really like to acquire Monte Ellis, Nenad Kristic, and resign Kevin. This would probably require overpaying a bit, so hopefully we could move out, or buy out some dead weight salary. Ellis would give us a backup point guard who also defends well, and he could form a future back court tandem with Kevin or Douby (Ellis playing point with Kevin, or shooting guard with Douby). Kristic is a nice rebounder, and has a good offensive game. He could help overcome Spencer's rebounding holes, or Justin's lack of offense, while hopefully paving the way to dismiss, banish, or trade away our ancient front court (Miller/Thomas/Abdur-Rahim/Moore).

While both of these acquisitions are stretches, given the caliber of these players and the salary position of the Kings, I thought I would chime in and provide my optimistic idealism.

(I was wondering...If Ron Artest is not traded before he becomes a free agent, do you think the Kings even try to resign him or do they look the other way?)

Getting Krstic would be a bit pointless since we have Hawes. Ellis would be great as a 6th man type but I am not a huge fan as a starting PG.

Monta Ellis just finished his 2nd year of pro ball after coming straight from HS. He's learning the PG position at the pro level. He's really a Mike Bibby type PG if anything. Score first, pass 2nd. This kid is very, very good. I don't care who we have on our team, he gets 30 minutes a game as part of a 3 guard rotation.
