Player X released; Kings MUST get him

Am I the only one who hasn't been impressed with any of the castoffs released so far?

What is it that makes every other team's rejects instantly the ONE player that we absolutely have to acquire?

Hello?

There are reasons they were cut and most of them were cut because they simply AREN'T that good. We are an elite team; while Petrie has spotted the occasional "diamond in the rough" amidst the dregs of the league, for the most part the guys who are let go are let go because they have problems of one kind or another. They might be trouble-makers, but more often they are generally not producing or they're among the walking injured.

I personally think it's WAY too early for Petrie to be making a decision. I think he's looking for the player that will meet our needs through the playoffs and I don't think he's going to experiment by signing guys to 10-day contracts so see if they work out. We don't have the luxury of auditioning a bunch of "maybes" if we want to stay in contention.

For the most part, this looks to me like NBA dumpster diving and I don't picture GP out there digging among the coffee grounds, decaying food material, etc. for the guy who - for the most part - is being picked up to sit with Erick and Matt.

Your both wrong, player Z is still available, and after the Marijauna/DUI incident we can get him on the cheap.

Well we've effectively got TWO dead roster spots that we could fill (I wish Daniels well, but he's not exactly an exciting talent, nor really what we need), so we've got a definite chance to build a better bench here. No player we pick up should make us champions, but we have a chance to hopefully add criical depth at PG and/or C/PF that we will likely need at some point. We came out of camp this year really unblanaced -- just random talent almost -- last 4 guys on the bench basically 2 OGs and 2 SFs.

No argument there, Bricklayer, but that wasn't my point. I'm just not that excited about the fodder being tossed on the slag heap so far (to mix metaphors).

Sometimes one man's trash is...well, another man's trash.

;)

I'm surprised nobody suggested that we sign Tucker Carlson after his release from CNN. He's pretty quick ya' know.

Rover discovers
alien life on Mars

NASA HEADQUARTERS - In a stunning announcement late today, NASA admitted they have been keeping a secret - a big secret, in fact.

About three weeks ago, Rover mysteriously quit broadcasting data back to Earth. Scientists were saddened, thinking the equipment had finally run out - after far exceeding their expectations.

After about a 2-hour silence, Rover's signal was reacquired. Somewhat puzzling, however, was the relative angle of declination of the signal. It had changed, and was now some 10 feet HIGHER than it had been.

Early reports were confusing, until the camera was rotated and a big smiling green face peered in. As the camera was slowly pulled back, it became evident that Rover was being carried by a rather large unknown specimen.

Details slowly began to evolve:

1. The creature is at least 10 feet tall.

2. It seems to have good manual dexterity as evidenced by its ability to balance the Rover while it performed a variety of quick moving and jumping moves.

3. It has long appendages that compare most closely to human arms, only it has four of them.

As scientists are wont to do, they had to closely examine all the data. Athough, as mentioned, they did not officially release this information until late today, apparently at least one person on Earth was already aware of the discovery.

One scientist, who asked that he not be identified but admitted to being a Kings fan, said, "I couldn't believe it. We had just started getting the pictures when we got the call from Geoff."

Rumors of a space shuttle with the Kings logo on it approaching Mars could not be confirmed at press time.

Entertainment Tonight picked up Kevin Frazier from ESPN.......so the finds ARE out there.......;)

Wasn't Jim Jackson considered another mans trash at one point. So was Tag when we got him now all of sudden ppl are demanding more PT. Fact is with the Kings lineup we can make even the worst of the worst a decent player. So if we get a decent player could we make him the best of the best?????? But your are also right i can't even see that decent player out in the midst of free agents yet

The Key factor every guy thats been brought in has in common is one thing... Petrie finds them. When he finds the right guy, He'll let us know, If he hasn't bit yet he must not see anything good/possible yet.

Jim Jackson was, to use an old saw, the exception that proves the rule. Tag was considered a good acquisition by a number of us.

My comment was "SOMETIMES one man's trash is another man's trash." And, in your last sentence, you agreed with me. So why the first part of your comment? ;)

When a team releases a player it doesn't always mean that the player isn't a good player or that he's a trouble-maker. This maybe the case 90% of the time. But it could also mean that he doesn't necessarily fit the system of the team that just released him. This same player could flourish in another team's system, so it is always good to look at all the possibilities. I'm sure that Petrie considers every possibility out there just as some of us do, but I must say he definitely has tremendous patience and seems to weigh out all the options in front of him.
