Player/team workout information (title changed)

so im new to the board and i was just curious if the kings had any workouts scheduled for green or noah? i was also wondering if petrie will draft someone he hasnt worked out.

First, welcome to the board!

I believe Petrie got a chance to watch Noah work out last week. It's buried in one of these threads somewhere... I don't know about Green, though.

I cannot recall Petrie picking someone without them working out - although that doesn't necessarily mean the player would have to come to Arco.

If I remember right, Green was invited for one very early on, declined or cancelled, and I've seen no sign of a second try. So if GP follows his avowed methods, Green will not be in the running. Most of the likely #10s that we've worked (including Noah) out are on this list:

Noah's not on there... unless that's your point.

It would seem to me that Petrie is focusing on Yi and J. Wright.

Actually, no, that's just me suffering from exhaustion again. Noah's not on the list because GP was supposed to watch him work out in Atlanta, so he never came to Sac.

Noah to work out for Kings on Friday Joakim Noah - F - CLG - Jun. 22 - 10:28 am et Kings GM Geoff Petrie is expected to see Joakim Noah workout in Atlanta on Friday, along with the Hawks.
Noah backed out of a June workout with the Kings in Sacramento when he had a slight rotator cuff tear. He is expected to be selected in the No. 6 to No. 12 range and the Kings have the 10th pick on Thursday. The Kings also are said to be high on big men Yi Jianlian and Spencer Hawes. Noah worked out for the Hawks on Friday and and will work out for the Grizzlies, who are rumored to be taking him at No. 4, on Saturday. Jun. 22 - 10:28 am et

It doesnt look like it and I have no idea why we haven't. I want to know how the J. Wright/Law workout went also.
I read somewhere a couple of days ago that Petrie was flying out to somewhere to work out Noah, J. Wright and I think I read somewhere that he would also get a chance to see Brandan Wright and Conley. Haven't heard anything since so I am wondering of those work outs took place or did they get cancelled?

^Yeah, I'm wondering if we actually have worked out Brandan Wright. According to the Bee, Petrie was in Atlanta on the 22nd and worked out Noah. According to Draftexpress, Wright worked out for the Hawks that day, so it's possible Petrie was there to see him work out as well.

Did Conley workout that day or a day after for the Hawks as well?!

I suspect that we would have worked out by ourselves or have had joint team workouts for all top 10 prospects. I think Petrie will cover all of his bases this year considering we have a top 10 pick. Draft nights can take a surprising turn as it only takes one unexpected pick to get a player that slides down the draft board and I suspect Petrie will be ready in case that scenario eventuates.

I hope so anyway!

Conley (and Horford) worked out for the Hawks yesterday, so if Petrie is/was still down there he might have seen it.

I suppose it would be too much to expect for the Bee to tell us these things.

No, remember he was working out J. Wright/Law?

Right, they're too busy telling us how SAR and Kenny do a reasonable job of filling our PF needs.

Conley's stock is high enough right now that it's probably not worth the bother. Of the mocks I was just looking at, 4 out of 7 had him going at #4, and none of them had him going any later than #7. So it probably doesn't matter.

It's possible Noah, Jianlian, and BWright go 4,5,6 and that would probably leave Conley without a suitor until us :D

Conley also cannot shoot. I am not that sure of his stock actually. Even the people who like him make mention of his shooting woes and question whether he is ready to lead an NBA team yet. He's a PG, and several of the teams need PGs. Puts him in position to be nabbed. But I don't think there's any mad rush to get him. He could still be there at #10. Whether that's a good thing for us is another question.

The entire article is posted in the main forum.

Point of clarification: It doesn't say Petrie went to Phoenix yesterday. It said he watched Noah et al in Phoenix. For all we know he may have been there already...

Hrm...

;)
