Plane from Oroville crashes in Montana

That's just awful. It's particularly hard to hear that it may have been mostly kids heading for a ski trip. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and other loved ones of those who perished.

It seems this plane wasn't from Oroville but had simply stopped there to refuel before heading to Montana. It doesn't make it any less tragic - and more than a bit macabre considering it crashed in a cemetery - but I know some kids from one of the Oroville high schools who ski and I was afraid some of them might have gone on some kind of ski trip...

The articles keep saying that it was just a refueling stop, but we do know that there was a Chico dentist and his family on board (local news reported it last night). Sounds like most people were from out of the area, but apparently there were at least a couple of locals on it.

I went to high school with the Chico area mother and the brother of her husband (up in Paradise). Very very sad, unfair and sobering. Definitely a reminder to cherish every day with the people you love.

Apparently the flight originated in Redlands, CA (southern Cal) and had stopped in Vacaville, before Oroville. Also they were supposed to be headed to Bozeman, but diverted to Helena. All sounds a bit weird. I wonder if the just ran out of gas? Apparently its possible the plane was overloaded. Seven adults and seven kids.

I work across the street from the Oroville Airport and TV news crews are over there this AM.

All very sad.
