Phobia of the Day

For yesterday, anyone who had the last week of from studies because of Easter vacation or spring break might be starting to suffer symptoms of Scolionophobia, the fear of school.

I suffered from thiscondition greatly;)

Somewhere there are enough people with lutraphobia, the fear of otters, to merit it having its own sub-category. I have to wonder...are they river otters or sea otters? Or perhaps stuffed otters made by Daken?

Hmmmm...

Anyone who is an active participant on a message board cannot suffer from Doxophobia, the fear of expressing opinions.

What do you call the fear of slogging through countless stupid and wrong opinions?

Hrm. The closest I could find would be scatophobia or coprophobia, which both pertain to the fear of feces.

;)

I slacked off a bit... sorry.

If you're going to or from Sacramento, you cannot suffer from Gephyrophobia or Gephysrophobia, the fear of crossing bridges.

On a related note, when people were saying the Kings might face the Spurs and were expressing some degree of worry, we said we'd cross that bridge when we came to it. Well, we're at the bridge. We cannot show gephyhrophobia now... It's time for us and the Kings to cross the bridge!

GO KINGS!!!

At this point, I have two phobias I think we need to give the Kings:

• Kakorrhaphiophobia - the fear of failure or defeat.

and...

• Rhabdophobia - the fear of being severely criticized.

Hopefully, if they all develop severe cases of Rhabdophobia, they'll do anything to avoid losing again, to the point of kakorrhaphiophobia.

River otters and sea otters are both in the family Lutrinae. River otters have the scientific name of Lutra canadensis and sea otters go by Enhydra lutris. So, based on the roots of those words, it probably means any type of otter.

 Science geeks rule!

Your dryer is eating my socks, too? Good lord. No wonder they seem to be disappearing in droves...

If it's a black hole does that mean somewhere on the other side of the universe there are SOCKS?!?!?!?

Oh wait... maybe that's worm hole.

Oh wait... maybe that's worm hole.

It's a vortex, actually.

It does lead to another dimension, however, in which there are socks wondering where their people went.

Well, there must be a way for at least some of them to get back. I know all I have to do is finally give up and toss the one that was left behind and within a very short period of time its now estranged mate returns...and I'm faced with another painful decision.

Here's what you do....turn the mateless sock into a cleaning rag, and then you'll never lose socks again. I swear! I had a whole pile of the uncle's socks that were singles, and after using them as dustrags, I've never lost another one since. Maybe it scares them into NOT entering the worm hole.

I just went in and had a long talk with my socks. I made it abundantly clear that their future is in their own hands...so to speak.

;)

------------------------------------------------------

The phobia for today is something I HOPE the Spurs develop tomorrow:
Porphyrophobia, the fear of the color purple.

I think this scifi stuff is over-complicating the issue. Its probably just sock divorces going on. Sad, but not eerie. ;)

If you're going to Arco tomorrow night, you'd better not be a suffer of Acousticophobia, the fear of noise.

I'm way behind so I'm just going to start again. I hope the Kings - or at least those who haven't been playing much inside defense - are not suffering from Aphenphosmphobia, the fear of being touched. (Also known as Haphephobia)

And the bonus phobia of the day:

Barophobia. the fear of gravity.

Okay, now I'm curious. How do people with Barophobia survive? Do they simply deny the existence of gravity and float out into space?

And now, with the end of the season, a lot of you will depart for the summer.

Here's the final phobia for 2005-2006:

Athazagoraphobia- Fear of being forgotton or ignored.

Here's hoping you don't forget us and come back in the fall for 2006-2007. It should be another interesting ride.

GO KINGS!!!
