Philadelphia and the #2 pick

MoV

Prospect
76ers taking Evan Turner?

He's basically the same player as Andre Iguodala... both are long, competitive swingmen with good rebounding and passing skills and nice ball handling ability.

They really need a big man to go along with Brand (who's played like **** since signing there). Cousins maybe?!?! If cousins can fall to 5, maybe GP can pull a trade:

Dalembert (12 mil next year)
#2 pick (Turner)

for

#5 pick (Cousins)
Filler to balance some cap (since we may not have 12 mill in cap)

Philadelphia gets a franchise center to play along side Holiday, AI and Brand. They also free up 8-12 million in cap to go after a free agent.

Kings get their two guard to play along side Evans while also getting a 1 year rental on a defensive center. This also allows us to have cap space next summer, when the cap bar is lowered.

What do you guys think? It all really depends on what Petrie likes... I still believe he knows what he's doing in this draft and will bring the best possible prospect to Sacramento.

Why would Philly do this? I know they're full of massive cap dudes but if thy're trading down like that, they'd more likely try to force Brand on us than just thrown in Dalembert. We'd have to give up much more in return.

If, by some miracle of whichever god that doesn't hate this franchise, Cousins were to fall to us, you keep him, lock the door behind you and squeal like the lucky bastard you are. The chances of him dropping to 5 are already slim, with the probability of those chances correlating directly to how dumb the T-Wolves front office is (so actually, if you're going off their recent history, you've got reason to be hopeful).

When you consider that, along with the misfortune we've had to deal with today and our absolute dire need for a big time post presence (as has been argued here for....the entire year), imo it'd be pretty foolish to turn around and look to ship out the answer to your prayers right away.

The same question applies to Philly's point of view: a star just landed on your laps after you leapfrogged so many teams to get there -- why move him? If anything they'd look to move Iguodala. He's older and is quite likely the player he will be for years to come. And that player hasn't elevated them to anything worthwhile, in spite of the massive contract that pays him to do so.

I like Iggy and obviously he's not the (sole) reason for their disappointment over the years. But Turner has the potential to offer the same type of all around game while bringing better scoring and playmaking for teammates to the table.

Ultimately, if those picks pan in the draft like they do in your scenario, both teams would do well to just call it a day and go home extremely happy.
