I don't know what GP's ultimate plans for this team are (I doubt if more than a handful of people, if that many, do). What I do know is that King Tut and K9 especially have played well since coming here (and Big Nasty in stretches). Whether they were initially traded for to use as pieces to trade later is largely immaterial - what matters is they are here and playing relatively well and putting up double-doubles about every night with very few practices. From what I have seen, maybe they have earned a spot on this team, especially if, after what they have gone through this season, they can work on becoming a more coherant team on both ends of the court during the off-season.
I just have the feeling that with the injuries and all the new guys, this team has not had a chance to really learn what it can become. I think Skinner might make a good backup to Brad. Is Thomas our starting PF next year? Who knows? I like Darius in the backup role, I think, so that might work. Not sure where Corliss fits in there rotation-wise, maybe a long-term backup to Peja?
I'd like to see how this team plays in preseason with everyone healthy and quality practice time available. Until that happens, trying to evaluate how good this team can be is an exercise in futility - it cannot be done.
VF21 said:It is WAY too early to judge the trade a success, and your comment that Webber is ailing is flat out wrong.
Sparky said:Webb can barely run up and down the court, has lost his ability to effectively jump or drive hard to the basket. He routinely missed back to backs and missed several games in a row shortly before the trade. Is he "ailing"? Well, he is playing with an injury that significantly affects his on court effectiveness. I can't say enough about his ability to adapt, but he is still hurt.

What being over the cap means is that we can only use our exceptions (MLE, LLE, and vet min) to sign FA's.
I think I read somewhere that there are 10 or 11 teams projected to be under the cap this summer, I haven't confirmed this
