Petrie-Adelman not as cozy as thought?

Well, having a blithering idiot on the other side of trade does up your odds of pulling off a steal I suppose. ;)

I POSTED THIS EARLIER IN A DIFFERENT THREAD BUT I THINK IT APPLIES TO THIS ONE ALSO.

It absolutely kills me all the fire Petrie and fire Adelman talks that occur on this site, I do not post that often but I peruse quite often.

Petrie is a top 5 GM in this league if not the best, has every move he has ever made worked out, no of course not, but at least he is consistenlty trying to make our team better. As for the webber trade, he got what value he thought he could get at the time, it still does not show whether it was good trade or not, it has been less than 82 games, and I do not think anyone was delusional enough to think that trade was made with the intention of competing for the championship this year.

I honestly believe that he had a trade for some of the pieces he traded for and possibly a core player all but finalized and it did not go through, but he and the Kings Org. are so secretitive we would never know.

Yes he has made some questionable moves, such as Walt Williams for Billy O back in the day, but he also made some great ones, including drafting Peja, which everyone gave him crap for for over 3 years, and getting Webb for who was at the time the Kings best player ever, Mitch.

Now as for Adelman, he is by no means the greatest coach in the NBA, but he is in the top 50% if not top 1/3. I have never liked his substitution patterns or his 7 man playoff rotation, but if we got rid of him, who would replace him. Also you cannot use the argument the team has stopped listening to him because it is almost an entirely new team.

You're making one assumption that might not be entirely correct. You're assuming the decision to trade Webber was Petrie's. As we saw when the Maloofs approached Phil Jackson's agent WITHOUT Petrie, not everything involving the team goes through the team's GM. There are some people who firmly believe the decision was made by the Maloofs and Petrie was told to make the deal.

We may never know the true facts in that regard, unless Petrie - at some point - decides to write a "tell-all" book.

Take a look at Phoenix. They had considerably more turnover than the Kings AND they lost one of the best PF/C in the game for most of the season. All this stuff about the Kings having new players is garbage.

Well, when they suck together as a unit (a TEAM), I don't think it is so much garbage.

PHX is a different situation imho. They lost Amare (who is a top 5 talent, no doubt), but they still have the engine that makes the car run in Nash, not to mention Marion (who is a borderline great player when paired with a true PG). Both of those players are better than any player on the Kings' roster. In losing Divac a year ago and CWebb mid-season, the Kings lost the engine(s) to their car, and they didn't acquire replacements.

Not to mention the fact that they made free agent acquisitions and trades for guys who would fit in with the other players (Raja Bell, Kurt Thomas, etc.), instead of assembling a starting five which would have more success as a fantasy roster.
