Perkins/Robinson for Green/Krstic

This one has implications for us -- Green had to be considered one of our possible free agent targets. Not sure if landing in Boston makes him off the market or nto, but it might.

Perkins and Ibaka seems pretty duplicative to me, they need some low post scoring.

they needed defense. this completely makes sense. outside of ibaka they don't really have a defender at the goal.

perk at C, ibaka at PF, durant, sefolosha and westbrook is a solid line up. nobody is going to be strolling in the lane against them now

Need some muscle in the middle first. Ibaka doesn't have the strength to bang with big bodies. Was why they went out of their way to draft flopboy from Kansas. Once that didn't work, guess they were willig to trade Green rather than not be able to pay him in a few months.

green has come full circle. wasn't he boston's pick a few years back?

At some point they are going to need low post/frontcourt scoring. Teams just don't win championships with 2 strictly defensive players as their frontcourt and without an offensive frontcourt/post player.

the interior defense is even more important though -- you need to close the middle before you can worry about anything else. Do agree next up is some post scoring, but this is the bigger need.

perk can post up a little. if you watched a few years back when they beat the lakers in the finals, he made gasol look like a little girl down on the low block

I guess, but I felt that they thought Ibaka would be that defensive filler in the middle. IMO having both him and Perkins is going to be too expensive to keep without one of them being much of a scoring threat.

good move for the thunder. now their frontcourt is stronger. i would think they would match up better with lakers bigs with Perkins. surprised they let Green go, maybe it's because he air balled the last shot against the Spurs last night, and could see Durant confused why he never got the ball.. :)

Thunder getting Nazr M. from Bobcats for DJ white and Mo Pete. This moves them up in the west to compete with the Lakers and Spurs.

BOS gave away their advantage over every other team in the league, their size down-low. That's like L.A. moving Bynum. That's what every other team in the league WANTS them to do. Perk is the best defensive post defender in the league; just ask Dwight Howard. Last YR in the playoffs he said somethin' like, "Perkins is the best low-post defender I've ever played against.". I can't BELEIVE Doc let this happen. I know every player/coach always gives the 'politically correct' answer when talking about trades that have happened, but I KNOW KG & Co. can't B happy w/this decision. I want to know what they think about this garbage. WOW! Unbelievable.

Why Jeff Green? Jeff's a good player tho. But still. NO NEED 4 THIS. They were intrested in moving Daniels for Battier (HOU). Cool, nice move. Didn't go thrU tho; no problem. But, Perk? Stoopid.

You got to game 7 of the Finals w/this team. Then you add D.West, Shaq & J.O'Neal in the offseason. YOU'RE ALL SET! They had the East sewed-up this YR. Who knows now w/o Perk down there. You see L.A. didn't make any crazy moves. Go ask D.Howard what he thinks of this trade. Go ask MIA & Phil Jax what he thinks of BOS giving away Perk. They LUV it. Lame BOS, LAME.

I'm thoroughly disappointed

With Shaq and Jermiane, assuing either is healthy enough to play, not many minutes for Perkiins.

Perk's their STARTER. Shaq's always hurt & don't get me started on J.O., pleeease. Perk is 26 years old! Terrible move. Flat-out terrible Perk doesn't need the ball. He's their MOST effective defensive player next to KG. No, he doesn't supply offense like a Bynum would, but w/all the fire power BOS has, that's the last thing they need from him. He is their FORCE in the paint. He's the definition of 'not going for sh**' on the b.ball court. Doc always says, "Our starting 5 has never been beated." & they haven't.

What utter BS this was. Utter BS!

LATEST: BOS traded Erden & 'Gody to CLE for a 2013 2nd round pick.

So, outside of Krstic, the Celtics are now relying on a centre rotation that has missed a combined 55 games this season. This should work brilliantly. *sigh* well, I guess it's Miami in the Finals now.

This leaves 3 roster spots open in BOS. Maybe Danny Ainge isn't finished yet. Trying to clean-up the roster for D.Howard after next season? Yet & still, the Perk trade is a permanent set-back on D & affects their post play.

I hope Boston knows what their doing here. This isn't the best of deals, Krstic is a soft jump shooting center and Jeff Green is a FA this summer, so was Perkins so I guess they assumed he would not resign and I don't see Jeff Green doing it either but hey, we will see how it works out for them. They traded two of their big men so I'm guessing they will roll with Krstic/Shaq/JO with their big men.

McHale said he talked to Ainge. Ainge told him that preliminary contract discussions with Perkins had him wanting to much money and he didnt think they would be able to re-sign him,

KG's massive contract $21,200,000, ray ray's $10,000,000 and Jermaine Oneal's $6,226,000 will be coming off the books after next season.

thats 37 mill coming off the books after next season. i think danny is prepping to blow it up early.

according to hoopshypes figures..

$76,973,961 2011/12

$27,790,345 2012/13

they might be waiting on the wings to pick up players off waivers.. it happens every year around this time

OKC are huge winners in this deal. They get toughness, rebounding, interior defense - everything they've lacked This puts them into championship contention for many years to come. Hard to say how much time has to elapse for them to have the polish necessary to get the ring, but they definitely have the complementary mega talent base. Every single team in the NBA should fear them now.
