Peja wants out? (Merged)

Forward thinking
Nov 14 - Peja Stojakovic is ready to move on. The Kings' sharpshooter is interested in playing for the Bulls, whether via a trade or as a free agent next summer, the Arlington Heights Daily Herald reports. However, with Luol Deng playing well, averaging 13.6 points and 5.2 rebounds, the acquisition of another small forward is a tough call in Chicago.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Has also been "reported" in Serbia too.

In my opinion, Peja has brought it this season except for a few early stinkbombs. The last few games have been encouraging. I'd much rather see Bibby or Miller go if it comes to imploding the team.

Look at the shape Denver is in right now without an outside shooter. It's an extremely valuable commodity that opens up the rest of the offense. I think right now Kings fans are so used to having that outside threat they might take it for granted.

What a prince. When the going gets tough, Peja talks about bailing.

Good, let him go to Chicago. It's just a shame this didn't happen before we got rid of the one true warrior to keep him happy.

Peja wants to go to Chicago - fact or fiction?

Do you guys think this is true? I can't think of a reason Peja would be unhappy in Sacramento. I mean, if there is a system in the league where shooter like himself can flourish, it's the Kings offense. On top of it, I believe he is too much of a professional to be making demands like that.

Sigh. Yeah, it was sad to see Mateen Cleaves go. We'll always miss his towel.

Maybe we could send them Stojakovic for Deng and change.

is deng decent from the outside? i don't know his game. if he is, that's a considerable upgrade in a lot of other areas.

Has been reported by Herald and picked up by just about everybody else in US (BSPN, hoopshype, realgm) and Serbia (b92).

The thing is, it may be a rumour that has already been repeated so many times on Chicago sports radio that Herald just decided to run with it as a story. When the season begun, and Bulls were slow out of the block and it seemed like they will have major issues with scoring without Curry, several shows had "analysis" that started looking at how Bulls can improve in the *next* off-season. They just seemed to assume that Pedja will sign with Bulls, and the only question remained whether Bulls would be able to pry Big ben from Detroit too?! I can't even begin to tell you how stupid that sounded to me, so I never even bothered reporting it here. The only difference with Herald story is that they are reporting that Pedja wants to be traded there (new info), and if not he will sign with Bulls in the offseason. It just doesn't make any sense to me. It is way to early for either Pedja/Pedja's agent or Bulls/Kings to do it, not to mentione that Bulls are stacked at SF.

Did not something similar to this come out in the summer too?

From what I've seen he's got more of a post-up, mid-range game. I don't know if Deng is an ideal replacement. He's not an excellent athlete so he's not that great of a defender or rebounder, and he's not going to stretch the defense with his shooting. He's a solid player to have off the bench, but I don't know that I'd trade a 20 ppg shooter for him unless that "change" that Slim references includes Ben Gordon.

He's not Pedja good from the outside (by that I mean Pedja of old, Deng can definetly go 3/10 from 3pt line on any give night), but he is improving. Great overall package and superb attitude. Can play OG, too. I would love that kid in Kings uni and I said before when he was mentioned in a possible trade that I think that Deng will be a perenial all star in the East if he can stay healthy.

why don't we wait for some kind of "credible" confirmation other than BSPN

Yes, and I have this nagging feeling that everyone (especially Chicago media) is making way too much out of Pedja-Skiles relationship and the fact that Chicago has the second largest Serbian population to Belgrade, Serbia. If a professional athlete wants to play for a guy that he briefly played with/for 10 years ago and in a town that has vastly overpriced and fake food from his homeland, then not much can be said about that players priorities in professional life.

Other then "Arlington Heights Daily Herald" (the source) you mean? Apparently, it was a slow weekend in Arlington Heights.

Is the Arlington Heights Daily Herald credible enough for you? Because this is probably the article that ESPN got their information from.

EDIT - bozzwell may type faster, but I have the cite...

LOL :D

Like piksi said, I think we are better off for a more credible source to come out with something. Mind you, where there's smoke....

What else can you do when there are 50 mph wind gusts outside than speculate on rumors? :)

TRADE ACCEPTED

I was one of those who cautioned against reading too much into the trade demand rumors a while back, only to find out the rumors were entirely true. If this is being widely reported, I can only assume - based on Peja's track record - there is some substance in fact.

And if so, fine. I am not going to argue about Peja Stojakovic any longer. My personal belief is well-known. It would be silly to repeat it.

This is the same possibility I was thinking about considering the fact that Tim Thomas' contract is up at the end of the year and we'd let him walk.

Seems like if we don't hurry up here, we get nothing for Peja. Deng would be solid.

He's coming off the bench for Chicago, right? Shouldn't be that impossible to pry them away from the Bulls, but I don't know how the organization feels about him

....

Bingo! it is strongly suspected (and I believe it) that Paxson would like to ship Thomas, even if just to swap expiring contracts, so I would not be surprised if Paxson approached Petrie and leak from there led to rumour. It seems like Paxson shipped Davies to NYK in Curry trade in hope of getting Davies back via wavers (Davies even had to be persuaded to talk to Brown as he would have rather retired then move from Chicago at the time). Now they're stuck without a real center and with a SF with attitude that makes Pedja look like Braveheart. So, I am sure that Paxson would love to swap Thomas for Pedja, I am just not sure that he would want to take any bad contracts (i.e. KT) since Bulls will be $20mil under the cap if the stay put. And than No 1 pick from NYK they got in Curry trade is looking real good right about now.

I just don't know how any of the above would translate into Pedja wanting to play for the Bulls, or if Bulls are willing to part with their kids/projects why wouldn't day give Mchale a buzz and enquire about KG.

IF Peja leaves during the offseason and we get nothing for him that would be the last straw. I don't know if this story is true but If you have to trade him because he wants to leave anyway so be it. It would be better than letting him walk away for nothing... Maybe we could trade him for 3 more "Very Tradeable" scrubs... Petrie sure has put us in a great position with his moves hasn't he?

This is great the rumours are coming from a CHICAGO newspaper!
If you guys are all going to hop onto this rumour train and believe every little thing you hear just because the team is losing than so be it, but I also have some swamp land you guys might want to buy!

A question for all you loyal Kings lifers.

How long does it take an NBA franchise to to complete a good-to-bad-to-good cycle. Ten years? I suppose that one would have to believe that the Kings will still be here in five years, and that they will once again be a top-rated team. Our world has become a huge IF .

Last year we were two bad moves from lottery. Now we are one ahead.
We already got garbage for DC, Webber and Bobby. We got nothing for Vlade. Nothing seams to work better than garbage.
