PDA hints of more moves to come

I didn't hear it, but KG4 told me PDA was on Grant's show just now and said, among other things, that they're definitely not done.

He also mentioned that his office overlooks the practice court. Today, he opened the curtain and saw Ray and Jimmer both out there practicing. He knocked on the window (just to wave Hi) and nearly gave both of them heart attacks. Their first assumption was that they were obviously next. LOL!

A general manager with a sense of humor who doesn't point at the moon while others watch his finger? Whoa...

Even if he does look like Mr. Mackey. ;)

The man is doing yeoman's work. Could not ask for more at this point.

He always brings it back to the perspective of,.. "and our fans deserve this". He gets it and brings full passion to his job for our team

I believe him. My guess is that he'll package IT for another star. Ray McCallum will replace IT.

That's who he reminds me of! Ha, that almost makes me like him. :)

Anybody have the audio of this interview? I can't wait to see what else Pete is working on.

Me too!

I could be wrong, but I'm doubtful IT gets traded, unless it's for Rondo.

I could see IT, JT, MT and a future first for Rondo. IT getting lots of minutes is going to whet the appetite of gm's around the league.

Yeah, but I'm torn...do we trade IT now, while his value is so high, or do we keep him since he's meshing so productively with our long-term players?
His team dedication, coach loyalty, high numbers, low paycheck, and strong positive relationship with the players on the floor makes me think that trading him is unlikely at this point (not withstanding a whole new losing streak).

I heard the same interview. PDA has a sense of humor:)

Here is what PDA has done so far. He drafted Ben McLemore. He turned Tyreke leaving on a big Pelicans contract, a 2nd round pick, Hayes, Salmons and PPat into Derrick Williams, Rudy Gay, Gray and Acy.

Certainly made the Kings younger and more athletic. We are in for a fun ride!

Am I the only one that thinks IT > Rondo??

Yes. Rondo is one of the best players in the league.

I guess the Kings have to figure out if IT is just having a hot start to the season, or if he's really just improved his game that much with better handles, a better shot and a better coach.

Unless we can grab someone like Rondo, I don't want to trade IT away. The guy can get into the lane almost anytime he wants, seems to have better court vision this year and doesn't seem to take over games unless he's hot or called upon to do so.

His last 5 games assist wise have been 8, 3, 9, 8, 12 which averages out to 8 a game. He's finding guys for better looks and we're start to gather more talent so his numbers should consistently be better than they were last year. Not that it means much but his efficiency rating is 10th in the league and he's surrounded by some of the best players in the league on that list. I wouldn't trade him unless it was for something special.

Agreed. Also, in all the interviews where Pete D'a has talked about IT, his tone continues to be one with Thomas staying on for the ride.

A trade is possible, but I think it's chances are low

While I believe IT stays, the above means basically nothing. PDA was raving about Greivis a week before the trade. Malone was talking about how much he loved everything about PPat. When it comes to this kind of thing these guys do not seem remotely reliable. They say what they have to to play politics and maybe even to keep the value of their guys high. behind the scenes a different calculation is going on.

When asked about Jimmer's role during PDA's live Q/A on the kings website a couple weeks ago, PDA completely dodged the question and responded along the lines of "This is what's so great about the Kings community--you guys always care about the team no matter. Thank you!"

This might be the sticky wicket. He will likely want a large contract this offseason. I would hope that we not oblige.

Do you expect him/them to say, Grevis really isn't all that good and I'm not a huge fan of PPat's game?

I bet this is making for a very uncomfortable locker room for the players until all this trade business is fully shaken out.

no I don't.

But on the other hand I don't expect any Kings fan who has been paying attention to the double speak to rely on what they are saying either. In fact it even goes beyond just words, as there are even various ways to interpret the minutes distribution we have been handing out. What is a sign of esteem, and what is a guy being showcased, is very difficult to distinguish right now.

We know that IT always the first player out there and the last player to leave. We know that he focuses 100% on basketball even in the off season. I assume that he's just gotten better (rather than just having a hot start). He's the real deal. Before this year I didn't want him as a long term solution as starting PG but everything that IT does makes me rethink what I had said before the season. Not to mention he's a GREAT leader. He likes to talk and people like to listen to him. So the heck with his height.

There is little to no indication that IT is going to be moved. I'm not torn at all. He's part of what is right with our Kings right now.

I'm not torn either. I may argue whether he comes off the bench or starts but not whether he is on the Kings. If he asks for $6 mil a year I might have to give it a thought but we'll see how many GMs think he is worth a lot of money given the team he is playing for and to this point he was one of two players on the team that could score. The rest of the season will need to be played and it will.

I think this is a critical point. When he speaks, he has the credibility of having fought alongside them... they listen. I don't see shiny credentials impressing these guys much.

What is "high" to you?
Good question. If the team believes IT is the starting PG of the future, then they might pay him as such. Personally, I think he's benefiting from being the only guy on a bad team who can get his own shot, so I wouldn't pay.
If the team sees him as a 6th man in the future, his pay should reflect accordingly - likely the Nate Robinson range.
I would let the market dictate, and then judge accordingly. I don't have a fixed number in my mind, if that's what you mean, but I wouldn't pay, just yet. I want to see what happens when/if teams prepare for him. History has shown that letting IT go off won't hurt you.
