#pace #jazzband = Karl

So, the celtics are talking the exact same transition from structure (Sousa) to pace and space (jazz) basketball.

I posted this elsewhere in the Isaiah Thomas watch thread, but it seems relevant to point out the Kings aren't the only team talking the same things.

In the case of the Celtics though, their persona pretty much is forcing them down this pace rabbit hole, what with their limited big man depth and four guards around which they want to "build around". Meanwhile, the Kings have the best post player in the league and a small forward who does better when he can take his time on a play.

No disagreement here.

We seem to think a jazz director coach is the key and players can do whatever they're told. It's just a state of mind.

It's been said by multiple people, gee, that Isaiah Thomas guy sure would have fit the style our FO says they want a whole lot better than Rudy and Boogie. And then the celtics, in pursuit of the same thing, actually go out and get the actual Isaiah Thomas.

I think karl, by necessity, will eventually settle on some kind of modified pace vs ISO style. He'd be an absolute fool to completely go away from Rudy and Boogie ISO. When you have two of the best one on one scorers in the NBA, you use it. Karl has done it too. End of half, ISO rudy. There's not a coach in the league who wouldn't in certain situations.
