Our Young Bigs - Spence and JT

Hawes not being in the league in 5 years is silly, barring injury. He is already at the very least a decent bench player/borderline starter who obviously belongs in the NBA. As bad as he has been playing he is still averaging 11 points a game and a little under 7 boards a game.

So that makes it ok for them to be sucking it up? This is NBA. People don't care how old you are. They're not going to take it easy on you just because you're 21. Oh, sure, they're pretty young, so let's just accept that they suck this season and not complain about it? Potential means nothing, my friend. Potential is not a guarantee, it is a hope, and a chance. Quite frankly, it's a chance that this young Kings team would be better off without. Spencer could be out of the league in 5 years, you don't know what's going to happen. Man, as if these guys are gonna be all-stars someday.

If you want to have a good big man, most of the time that involves understanding that you have to wait a while on his potential. Luckily, I don't think our management is so shortsighted.

Dude, every single player you have ever watched had potential when they entered the league. Some maximized it more than others. A few were busts. A few became hall of famers. And you have everyone else in between. But not of them were busts or fully mature as a player by age 21. How can you honestly sit there and say potential means nothing?

If we trade Spencer, than whoever takes him would be looking at his potential, right? We drafted Tyreke because he has the potential to be one of the best players in the league, right?

No one on this team sucks. Maybe Sean May. But seriously, every player on this roster 25 or younger(excluding may) has potential and will improve. Tyreke, and Donte to a certain extent, have star potential. Both JT and Omri will be solid nba starters for the majority of their nba careers, maybe better. It looks like Spencers learning curve might take a little longer for him than for others. But honestly, how can you not recognize the talent he has. I can't think of one center in the nba as young as Spencer who has a better, and more talented all around game than he does. He's still figuring out the league, and learning how to contribute on a consistent basis. Thats normal.

Now, we need another big man to help Spencer and JT out. But its not Spencers fault Petrie hasn't brought in another big. Spencer really struggles some times. But he has some very good games sometimes, and you can see the talent he has. But when he plays poorly, his play is highlighted because of the fact we don't have another center on this roster. Again, not his fault.

Just out of curiosity, is there any really good bigs coming out of the draft this year?

I agree. People are really impatient and we tend to forget that big men might take longer to fully develope than other positions.

And it's not like these guys haven't shown potential, Spencer is starting to struggle this year. Maybe the coach is asking him to change his game and it's throwing him off. Let's give these guys some time.

Potential is nothing. It's what you do with it.

Spencer, for one, is not doing anything with his.

How hard is it to see that? I don't need a paragraph to explain that.

Lol
I knew I shouldn't attempt to reason with you. If you can't elaborate after making that statement, this discussion isn't worth having.

Hawes and Thompson's shortcomings would not be near as noticeable If we had another legitimate big man to throw in there.

There!! I said it again. I'm done.

Oh, almost everyone will be in full agreement with you :) We all know we need that 3rd solid big in our rotation
