Our Offense

Regarding "new offense", I'm just repeating what Westphal said. Frankly, I didn't know it was a new offense until I read about that recently in the newspaper. The offense doesn't look differently to me from last year, but I don't pretend to be an X's and O's guy.

I'm optimistic with this team on the defensive end of the floor and with their rebounding. The Kings have 64 games to get better in assist to turnovers. If they don't get appreciably better in that area, then either the personnel isn't talented in passing, the coaching isn't good enough, or both. In either case, it's management's responsibility. They chose to go into the season with this lineup.

As far as Tyreke is concern, he's got to show improvement. So far, I'm dissapointed in his lack of progress. I heard about all this off-season coaching, about him being in better shape, about working on his game, but I haven't seen it on the floor as yet. Still waiting....

I'm going to disagree with you a little bit on Tyreke. I thought his game against the Lakers may have been one of the best games of his career. However, as good as he was in that game, he was equally bad in the game against Portland, which may have been the worse game of his career. Which makes it impossible to pass any kind of judgement on his progress. Obviously Portland took him out of his game. He kept trying to drive into the teeth of the defense, and there just wasn't anything there. I'm going to take a wait and see approach.

So your saying he can get by a 38 year Fisher, but not a 27 year old Felton.

I had the leaguepass stream going tonight with the NOH commentators up. They really gave it to us in the first half concerning our jumpshooting offense even to the point of throwing thornton under the bus repeatedly when he missed layups saying hes too close to the hoop and prefers jacking up Js.

Its pretty evident throughout the league that this were a streak shooting team whose guard play defines us. It paid off tonight but the sooner we get an inside presence and work our way inside out the better. I have no idea what PW is doing with this offense with our bigs instigating

Gotta remember that New Orleans is where Thornton came from, that their coaching staff did not like him, and that thye have to still try to justify that disastrous trade to their fans.

And I remember them riding Reke in his rookie year right up until he started lighting up Paul. Nice to see them shut up again by our guards.

Saw some good offensive sequences vs NOH, some good kickouts lead to open 3s by Salmons and Cisco, sharing the ball in fastbreaks(although I believe Jimmer made a bad decision in passing the ball to Thornton rather than giving it to Cisco when they were running the break) and most importantly the FTs(especially Tyreke's). I hope we can build on this performance and get our offense going a little bit, Tyreke will not bail us out every game by hitting stepback fade-away 3s. Go Kings!
