[ORL/DET] Youth vs Experience

WTF, Pistons!!!

I could even handle the "De-troit Bas-ket-ball!!!"

Go Webb!!!!!

I gotta say -- for a lot of the game I was thinking "Gee, Darko isn't that bad."

Then crunch time came. YIKES.

Couldn't watch the game, but I checked the stats & it looks like Webb had a decent game but only played 26 minutes....

10 points on 4 of 8 shooting, 9 rebounds & 3 assists....

Go Webb! Go Detroit! :)

CWebb played alright, but made a couple of poor decisions in the 4th and took a seat as Saunders went with Sheed and Dyess.

The real problem the Pistons are going to face if/when they make it to the next round is that they have trouble holding things together when Billups is not on the floor.

er..don't even want to ponder how bad the score woiuld be in this one if he were not out there. Would the Magic have broken 50?

Barely. He hasn't really done a good job of distributing though but he's scored a lot. I don' see Orlando going anywhere with him as their PG though. I could see a Bibby for Darko sign and trade or something like that.

I liked the Webber scowl tonight. Always tells me he's ready to play ball.

The play wehre he totally robbed Dwight Howard of the ball made me laugh.

15 points, 7 boards, 2 blocks. Nice line for him.

Come on Brick, admit it - you didn't watch the game did you? ;)

Nelson had 3 assists, and while Orlando is totally overmatched by Pistons, with a point guard that can distribute the ball, they would at least make the Pistons sweat, not just stroll to 3:0.

There were times in this series where I thought that Magic had better chance of winning a game with Brial Hill at PG and with Nelson coaching.

Yeah, Webb's scowl is classic. It was good to see. :) And, I loved the steal as well, webb made it look so easy. Hopefully Detroit will finish this up in one more game & get some rest for the next series. It looks like they may be playing Chicago... how do they match up against them?

The Bulls mauled us 3 out of 4 during the season, but they only played against us with Webber once, and we won that game.

Ben Wallace has never been able to guard Webber in the post, since he never gets in the air against his own man, and Webber has a distinct reach advantage on him.

If we're going to beat the Bulls, Webber's pretty much going to have to carry us, along with Sheed.

I'm not sure why Flip is playing guys like Webber that many minutes though. But I guess just try to sweep Orlando next game and hope the Miami/Chicago series goes 7 games. That would give the Pistons a nice rest for a couple days. And they could use it IMO, considering Webb/Sheed are both 33+.

edit: I'm stupid, Webber and Sheed only played 27 and 29 minutes. But I'm not sure why Rip played 38 and Chauncey 37?

...because our backup guards suck?

Lindsey Hunter has been terrible, and Flip Murray just isn't as trusted.

BTW, Sheed is only 32. Webber is 34.

Webber needs to play as much as possible. He didn't have nearly enough game experience with us during the season, due to his pneumonia.

Eh I guess you're right but I just don't think Orlando's a threat and I would like for Rip/Chauncey to be rested so they don't get exhausted. Oh well though it's only a couple minutes, no big deal.

Rip never gets tired. he can play 58 minutes a game and still not be tired. He's a world-class endurance athlete. I never worry about his minutes.

Chauncey is a different story, but unless Flip Murray starts playing well enough to earn more than 6 playoff minutes a night, we don't have another choice.

We haven't swept anyone in 17 years. We want to get this over with ASAP so we can start worrying about Chicago.

Would love to see Detroit just wrap this up & rest up. Webb's illness came at a bad time, things were going so well & it obviously set him back, but hopefully he will be able to come out big against Chicago if that's who they play.

You got to love how Darko played in the last few mins, like an mvp, to bad they lost. He needs to get more plays and mins next season, where ever he goes.

Glad Detroit got the sweep, now hopefully Miami can grab a game or two against Chicago(but I honestly think they'll fold in half and go away) and tire them out a bit. I want to see Detroit go into the next series rested and Chicago tired.
