One player. Within reason.

Fresno King

Starter
If the Kings could get just one player this offseason, who would you want it to be??? The answer has to be a realistic one. No Lebron, Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki answers. For example, my pick would be Jamal Magloire.

Don't know too much about him, but how about Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Stat wise, he would fit in great!

Is that realistic enough?

Taller Brad Miller, except has a post-game. He's overpaid, and not what we need.

For me, realistically, Etan Thomas. :)

Magloire I don't think is that realistic anymore based on a few things: KT and his bench stuff, Villanueva will be the starting PF, them already having plenty of guys at the wings. I'd say Noel is the swingman they wanted off the bench, he's a rookie, but they're going young anyways and is NBA-ready. In Magloire's contract year, would he be starting or get good minutes as a back-up?

Bonzi Wells

or any center who can play at all for under the mle would make me happy.

anyone that requires trade scenarios, i think, is too hard to tell for a thread like this. our roster is fairly solid and, while definitely in need of improvement, no one outside of thomas or the scrubs is someone we should just ship out without a second thought.

Well, with me, KT is the one who'd be dealt for Etan. It's the most realistic scenario for dealing KT because of what the Wiz want to do and need at PF. Etan brings what we need in the front-court.

Agreed on getting a FA center... any of Cato/Wright/Kandi/Voshkul (in that order) would be good. All can be had for part of the MLE, and the latter two probably for the LLE. I'd say Elson or Butler, but Elson is likely to the Spurs, and Butler will be kept by the Knicks.

Trading Kenny for Etan and then signing one (or 2) of the remaining FA centers would be sick. It is definetely not a coincidence that the 2 teams in the finals had a small army of big men who at least know their way around an NBA game. I would be very happy to go forward with a team of-
Bibby/Hart/Douby
Bonzi/Martin/Garcia
Artest/Garcia
SAR/EThomas
Miller/Cato/Kandi(or others)
...along with hopefully some SL guys who can play
That team is about as close to a contender that we can get with trading at least some of our major pieces. There are inherent weakness to our roster, and those additions would seem to cover them as best as possible.

Agreed, ten-thousand percent. :)

- Shooting
- Post-up
- Interior defense
- Slashing
- Perimeter defense
- Athleticism
- Rebounding
- Bench production

Don't think they'd take any 2 or 3 of KT/Corliss/Hart/Potapenko/Garcia (already have their wing players set) for him. And doubt they'd trade Brad for Dalembert, and probably vice versa.

Would have to give up one of the kids/piece or Bonzi for him, but not certain they'd do it. Or that we'd do it. Especially involving division rivals. Also, I'd rather have Bonzi or Kevin as our starting SG, and Bell likely wouldn't be the same player outside the Suns system anyway.

Bell's not a PG.

I'm reluctant about trading Brad only because I really want to see what a team similar to what I posted above can do- can Brad's offensive skills really boost a team that has lots of other rebounders and defenders? Can his deficiencies actually be covered, and can he then use his 7 foot body and dirty attitutude to make a difference on defense and rebounding? I don't know, but if he could, this team could be great. If it fails, and Brad becomes not only a liability but a redundant one (once we've loaded up on other PF/Cs) then we can trade him midseason. Quality starting centers are hard to come by- even with Brad's problems a lot of teams would want him and he can get more for him later. But this team is so close to being great I'd rather see Petrie make the small peripheral moves around our pieces now and see what happens- if not try something new. I don't think we'll win it all next year barring something great emerging, but it will be a critical year in determining whether this talent-heavy team can become a contender. Until we get some sort of a verdict in that department, I don't want to trade anyone who has a big impact on the team.

I'm split on that... would Brad really go back to his 03-04 ways? How consistent would that be? How effective would it be now?

However, I would be cool with the idea if Brad is still the softy who is inconsistent in the effort area - trade him by the damn deadline, please.

Darko Milicic EASILY.

He already is a tremendous shotblocker in limited minutes. Can score, rebounds well and last season with the Magic I saw some teams just about practically stack themselves when Darko was defending the lane. He alters a hell of a lot of shots.

I am just dirty we didn't trade for him when Pistons were ready to trade.

One realistic player? Eric Snow. He is old, but he would accept a backup role and mentor the young guards. I've always liked him.

Just in case Doobie doesn't pan out as backup pg...

I want Darko, but after the season he's about to have with the Magic he won't be a very realistic aquisition.

Magloire has been on my wishlist for several years.
I'd also like Hakim Warrick.

plus we wouldn't even have to get new jerseys for him. :)

Etan would be my first option. Magloire for Kenny wouldn't be bad though. That would knock off 8 million from the cap next year and give us great depth at center.
