Might as well read the Sac Bee... JWill has 1/yr at 8.9M and Artest has 1/yr at 7.8M (he will opt out if he is not traded) both are expiring contracts as I see it.. Miami would have to take KT off our hands and send Wright with JWill with picks...

Miami can;t take KT off our hands and still take Artest as well, unless its JWill adn... Twoine?

mentioend in another thread that turds like Twoine could almost be ont he menu if we are serious about a free agent run in 08-09. A turd wiht a 2 yr contract is worth infinitely more to us than oour own turd wiht a 3 yr deal.

If YI isn't going to play in Milwalkee. I wonder if they would do a S&T of Mo Williams and YI to us for Mike Bibby. We may have to send them Hawes as well.

If we sent Bibby and Hawes to Milwaukee then I'd want Mo, Yi, and Charlie Vill......now that would definately bring some fire back to Arco!!!! :D

If YI doesn't want to play in Mil as he was very surprised by them drafting him, then we should be able to get his cheap, or at least you'd hope. There is nothing like getting a player for pennies on the $ when they don't want to play somewhere, that team really has it's hands tied. Indy had the same scenario with a upset Artest not wanting to play there anymore...it has had mixed "blessings" for us thus far...hopefully we can do it again and get some young bigs and shed Bibby's large contract as well. Didn't the Bucks want K9 and almost got him from us last season....maybe I just dreamt that I cannot remember!!! :-)

A Turd, is a Turd, is a Turd...

If we take Twoine ..

Option #1 -- Become a Laker Fan

Option #2 -- Watch Bowling and give up on Basketball..

Brick's right on...a two year turd is infinitely better than a three year turd. If we rack up players who have contracts expiring in the same season, that's a whole lot of money coming off the books at one time. Gives you a good run at a high profile free agent.

Not sure Yi would want to play here, anyways...and I wouldnt do it if they wanted Hawes to boot(not that I'm incredibly high on the Hawes bandwagon yet)but I think that if any trade would happen it would be Bibby and someone for Yi, Mo, and filler(probably not Vill, though)

U would have the ability to do what Orlando did a few years back with T-Mac and Grant Hill(albeit they sucked, and Hill wasnt himself for most of the time there and he wasnt worth the $10million after his injuries, of course) But, I would think you could get a high level FA and a mid-level FA all at once, and add that to the core of young guys who will be more skilled in 2 years, and you have a pretty decent team.

Exactly...I dont see us having the ability to pull anything off for Yi, unless it involves Bibby...which COULD be a possibility...Yi and Mo Williams+turd filler for Bibby.

Why the hell would they even trade Williams straight up for Bibby? IMO Williams is a better overall player and then you factor in he's younger and likely won't get paid as much as Bibby then that would be crazy for them to do. I highly highly doubt they have ANY interested in Bibby. Yi is not coming here.

I'm pretty sure it was the bucks as well. I don't know why the deal got pulled off...Anyway, I'm hoping that KT gets traded for Yi. Especially in this case, they get KT for almost nothing.

Oh, I couldnt agree more, I was just throwing up one of the only even remotely minute possibility if it were to happen, thats all. I dont see anything happening with the Kings and Yi.

Yi AND Mo Williams? That's unrealsitic obviously.

But there ARE realistic possibilities out there, and we took a look at those contracts once before. Basically they've got a bad contract on their hands in Gadzuric, who barely played, and a potentially bad one on their hands in Bobby Simmons. If you are swapping a player to Milwaulkee THOSE would be the contracts you would have to take, not a player of value like Williams. Thing is that they both violate the possible 08-09 rule.

Now the other thing is that as of right now (before any resigning of Williams) Milwaulkee only has $39 million in salaries, so you can send them a player and a pick and they don't have to send you anything in return (although again, they might LIKE to send you Gadz just to escape his contract). The two biggest player possibilities are obviously Bibby, if and only if they are unable to resign Mo. And Artest, who would replace Patterson as resident crazy defensive SF, and move Simmons back to 6th man where he's probably a better fit. They are so desperate for defense in that lineup, and have been willing to take on characters at that spot before -- not impossible.

And then of course there is the pick -- and there is our biggest advantage. We should be in the lottery next year, and possibly pretty high in the lottery. If you offer that, Milwaulkee can come out of the deal feeling like realy haven't lost much and will get another chance next year (and can sell the same story to their fans). Of course that's the absolutely last piece I would want to offer -- maybe a pick in the future, but not the one next year. But to pretend that a 2008 lottery pick is not a valuable trading chip is silly.

And if teams are wary of Yi and his representatives, and they will be if they actually force a trade here, then being on Yi's short list of "acceptable" teams can dramatically cut down on the competition to get him. Under those ciurcumstances Milwaulkee isn't going to be able to deal freely with just any team anywhere in the league.

Also note the real possibility of invoilving a third team -- you send Artest to NY, NY sends a handful of kids and prospects to Milwaulkee (Balkman etc.), you throw in a future pick of your own to Milwaulkee (not 2008), and then take back Malik Rose and Yi. All kinds of possibilities in a world where Yi's reps have annointed you as one of their golden target franchises.

I'm all for dealing with NY. JWill, aside from his brick pull-up 3s, may be a worse defender than Bibby. And, he never has balled-up for taking it to the hoop. Why would the Kings want another defensive liability at point guard, even for a year?

Williams/Williams/
Martin/Salmons/Douby
Garcia/Wright
Yi/Williams/SAR/KT
Miller/Williams

assuming we sent Hawes out. Would be nice to keep him thought. Now that i think about it. How perfect is Justin to come off the bench for Yi or Hawes for that matter since both are offensive.

Ummm, you remember that little episode with Jason Williams in Oaktown?

Somehow I have a hard time imagining the Chinese government helping us to pry Yi out of Milwaukee with JWill on our roster. Stranger things have happened, but they'd have to be pretty uninformed and/or forgetful to overlook that.

Not that big a deal, though. I think we could all be happy getting Yi and skipping JWill.

What are you talking about? Jason was pretending to shoot Vietnamese guys "just like in Pearl Harbor" if I recall correctly. Yi is Chinese so there should be no beef over this.

I think we could if we really wanted him!

If Yi continues to force Bucks' hand they will be looking to trade him, or rather trade his rights. In other words, he has not and apparently will not sign with them so the only thing that Bucks can do is trade his rights.

We could trade for Yi without giving up any of our players. If we say traded our pick next year with a top 3 or top 5 protection, Bucks would probably consider that.

In terms of value, Bucks are really on the back foot here. Yi's continual snubbing of them is putting Bucks in a weaker trading position.

Funny thing is I don't remember exact details over seven years after the incident, but here they are. I suppose losing the Nike endorsement was the biggest blow to Williams.

Controversy

On February 28, 2001 Williams, while playing for the Sacramento Kings, shouted racist and anti gay slurs to Michael Ching, a Golden State Warriors season ticket holder, and to several other Asian Americans seated beside Ching during a Warriors game at the Oakland Arena. As recounted by a letter Ching sent to NBA commissioner David Stern, Williams retaliated against heckling made by Ching and his party midway through the first half.[3]
According to Ching, he told Williams, “Get used to sitting on the bench.” Williams responded, “Are you gay? Are you a fag?” An angered Williams then pelted Ching with expletives, at one point defaming him as a “slant-eyed mother****er.” Williams continued to threaten Ching, saying, "I will shoot you Asian mother****ers. Do you remember the Vietnam War? I'll kill y'all just like that."[4]
The NBA finally levied a $15,000 fine on Jason Williams for cursing at fans. Nike decided to change a planned advertising campaign featuring Williams as a result of his actions as well.[5]
Williams has since apologized for the incident.[6]
Also, on November 29, 2000, the NBA fined Williams $10,000 for comments to a fan at the Alamodome in San Antonio.[7]

I don't see them taking Bibby or Artest, they don't fit their team or what they're trying to build. Yi is not worth our pick next year, I wouldn't give up an unprotected pick. It would have to be at least top 10 protected next year and top 5 in '09.

I remember it as reported here (maybe the Pearl Harbor stuff is aphocrophal, but I didn't make it up myself)... anyway it was a real bummer for me... I loved JDub and refused to believe he was rude to autograph seekers, smoked reefer, or any of this stuff. Oh well

Exactly...the only way I see a deal between Miami/Sacto is:

Kenny & Ron

for

J-Will/Doleac/Wright or Simien and a 2008 1st rounder

Otherwise, we're really just better off keeping Artest.
