J-WILL55

G-League
Ric Bucher reported that Miami is still the likely destination for Artest, saying that they have the most to offer in regards to contracts, etc. David Lee would be nice, but expiring contracts may be even nicer. And hey, J-Will would bring some excitement back to boring-*** arco.

They also said Sacramento is the second most likely place for Yi to land after golden state. Keeping my fingers crossed......talk about bringing excitement to arco!!

I hope this drives the price up on Artest and NY and Miami continue to offer better and better deals to get him.

Its Bucher, so grain of salt, but if those two events came to pass I would be pretty happy overall (assuming the Miami offer was JWill and some bits like Wright and/or a pick).

If YI isn't going to play in Milwalkee. I wonder if they would do a S&T of Mo Williams and YI to us for Mike Bibby. We may have to send them Hawes as well.

Williams/Williams/
Martin/Salmons/Douby
Garcia/Wright
Yi/Williams/SAR/KT
Miller/Williams

assuming we sent Hawes out. Would be nice to keep him thought. Now that i think about it. How perfect is Justin to come off the bench for Yi or Hawes for that matter since both are offensive.

I really hope we trade him to NY and not Miami. I used to really despise JWill always pulling up for crappy threes and missing. Lee is a much better player than Haslem too. If NY doesn't want to give up Lee, Haslem and Wright will have to do I guess. I would be ecstatic if we could just send Artest to Milwaukee for Yi, just so Ron would be miserable. But just getting Yi would be sweet, he was the guy I really wanted, I'd trade a good deal for him, probably not Kmart though I dunno.

i dont see us getting yi without losing hawes, thats ok though..
the bucks dont need Hawes, they already have Bogut who is a pretty similar player. It would ahve to be for someone else, although I really have no idea how we'd pull that off, other than Sac has a lot of chinese people and Yi probably wants to play here.

No -- Haslem won't be involved there unless Geoff is an idiot. His contract is just as long as KT's and would further mess up any 08-09 free agency plan..

JWill's value is purely as an ending contract. That its JWill is just a little bonus for the fans and maybe letting him wrap up his career full circle. But he's just the matching contract, and an ender. Haslem could not be involeved -- his contract is too long and he's too mediocre. And then in addition to JWill, then that's where you would liek to get as much as possible in the way of kids (Dorell Wright principally) and/or draft picks.

when was the last time Jason williams was exciting. He is not that same player, and we don't have that same system. I am holding out hope to keep Artest , at least to give Theus a chance to see if he can coach him. But if they have to trade him, I would rather New York for Lee.

Yeah, I'd rather have Rose/Lee than JWill/Wright, even if it does mean an ender a year later. Wright just doesn't impress me that much. I also don't think a pick from Miami would be too appealing -- I don't think they're going to be particularly good next year, but with DWade on the roster they're at least going to be decent, which only means a middling pick.

Of course, if the Knicks aren't offering Lee or want Jeffries to be included then Miami clearly becomes the more attractive deal.

Yeah, don't think Hawes would be involved (indeed after signing his contract for us I'm not sure he CAN be involved in a trade for 60 days). Think that would be the interesting thing for us teaming up a new young Hawes/Yi frontcourt.

But what would be involved? That's the question. First things first -- Yi has to stiff arm the Bucks one more time at Summer League to get them serious about talks. Then...? Suspect what the deal will end up looking like would be a FUTURE pick of ours (probably next year with some sort of low level protection) as well as a current player. Only way for Milwaulkee to save face and try to get value. Get a little something now, and be able to say they got the pick back for next year to try again.

Golden State can use Wright, which trumps what we can do. But they have been trying to use him to get KG, so who knows. And other than Wright, their draft pick isn't likely to be nearly as good as ours, so if it comes down to an offer of future draft picks, we should have the advantage.

Might as well read the Sac Bee... JWill has 1/yr at 8.9M and Artest has 1/yr at 7.8M (he will opt out if he is not traded) both are expiring contracts as I see it.. Miami would have to take KT off our hands and send Wright with JWill with picks...

I don't see them taking Hawes.. But I do see them taking our pick from 2008!

I understand why we'd need to take him on-- but it irks me to no end that people are so enthused about shipping out big bad Artest for problem child Jason Wiliiams.

is he the same problem child of the past? he seems to have mellowed down quite a bit after becoming a family man. if we were to get some young talent and/or draft pick along for artest lets do it.

Me too. Thank you. Jason Williams is only about two notches down on the jerk scale from Artest.

I can't recall Jason Williams being a "problem child" for quite some time. Got any recent examples???

And do you really want to compare Jason Williams' past with Ron Artest's???

then imo the trade is absolutely worthless. I'd rather just keep Artest happy or not. Dorell Wright is just another contract/swingman we do NOT need. I wouldnt mind Haslem on the team simply because the trade I kept seeing was for JWill/Wright/Haslem, but I doubt they took into consideration Haslem's bloated contract(which I didnt really know about).
So basically unless we get David Lee for Artest i dont wanna trade him.

Bibby on the other hand I wouldnt mind Varejao and Daniel Gibson or something like that, seeing as how hes pretty much gone anyways and the cavs seem to really want him.

The big difference between these two is that Artest is actually good. I never liked JWill and never will. His pull up threes used to annoy me to no end.

dang i hope this brings a turn for the better around here
Oh, and Ric also reported that C-Webb was going to sign with the Harlem Globetrotters...c'mon people, when has Ric freaking Bucher ever been right about ANYTHING....his track record is like 0-1001. Until he gets something correct, then I'll still believe that he is just a big bag of hot air.(but an overall nice guy, btw...met him a couple of times:D)
