SACRAMENTO -- Gawen DeAngelo "Bonzi" Wells, a professional basketball player for the Sacramento Kings, was hospitalized after being found bound and gagged in an Arco Arena locker room early Monday evening. Suffering from multiple contusions across his legs and two fractured ribs, Wells alleged that he was lured into an adjacent bathroom and brutally assaulted by two Kings teammates. The apparent leader of the attack was the volatile forward Ron Artest, notorious for instigating the Pistons-Pacers "Brawl" in November of 2004.
Artest, along with point guard Mike Bibby, is currently being questioned by the Sacramento Police Department for any involvement in the attack. Though the accused are unavailable for comment, Artest's agent released this brief statement on behalf of his client:
"I told the ni**a to re-sign."
