OFFICIAL trade deadline countdown proposal thread!!!

Sorry VF21, just can't resist playing the trade game this week! I was thinking that a Jackson to the Clippers for Chris Wilcox and Bobby Simmons deal would make our frontcourt younger and more athletic with big upside in Simmons. And Bobby would give them a legit scoring PG. I know that it would temporarily leave us thin at PG but it's always better to trade small for large. Sounds equitable to me, how about you guys?

EDIT: Sorry for hijacking your thread, Rowdyone. I've just made this the OFFICIAL trade deadline countdown proposal thread.

So, if you guys HAVE to keep coming up with proposals, put them here and save a lot of thread space just in CASE something else comes up that's worth talking about.

:D

Simmons is an rising star and the Clippers aren't going to be able to afford him. The problem here is neither are we. I don't see it happening because I don't think Petrie will pull the trigger on a deal that really only helps us for another year.

Dam Im jumpy! I came in hear thinking you had heard something legit. I would comment on your trade if I even knew who Wilcox and Simmons were, unfortuately, I don't. Sorry.

They probably wouldn't do this particular deal involving Simmons but then they've done some really wierd stuff in the past, you must admit. And if they lose out on Baron Davis they could feel enough pressure to upgrade their PG position to pull the trigger. In that case would we be happy with Wilcox and fodder to make the deal work?

The only thing that makes me think that the Clippers would do this deal if approached by the Kings is that it is horrible horrible trade for the Clippers...Thus they might do it.

Peja/Bobby for Livingston/Maggette is the rumor i'm hearing

Hehehe...I wish...I made that one up.

Livingston's passing would really take him far in our system and he's fun to watch. He doesn't get many assists as a Clipper because they're not used to such efficient and flashy passing. Maggette can shoot the long ball, drive, and rebounds better than Peja. Having a big pg like Livingston can help Bibby flourish as a shooting guard as they can switch up defensive assignments. Peja and Bobby will give the Clippers a much needed veteran presence and would turn them into instant contenders.

What about Peja/Bobby for Maggette and Jaric??? Works cap wise.....why not???

Clips would not trade one of those guys for Bobby, and no way they would trade both.

Reason 1 : Wilcox is young, efficient, and they would be trading young and big for older, small, and injury prone.

Reason 2: Simmons might be a star and he is also much younger and bigger than Bobby.

Are you guys serious? We need Wilcox. He's young, athletic, and can actually rebound.

Livingston, no. We already have one weakling rookie on the team that we don't even use. Jaric we don't need either.

The last thing the kings need are more shooters with no D.

Livingston works too. The thing is Jaric is as good as he's going to get. Livingston is only 18 years old. He's going to grow into his abilities. He hustles on defense and is already a much better ball handler than the "other rookie weakling". He's going to be a superstar and would benefit from the perspective that bibby and webber can give him.

<sigh>

You know guys, we have a lot of members. If everybody starts their own thread with their own RealGM trades we are going to have a LOT of fantasy threads.

That's the nature of the beast at deadline time, right?

I think the one thing you can say -- after sifting through all the dumb rumors, made-up trades, etc. -- is that, perhaps for the first time, the Kings are actively pinging their trade sonar with Peja as the bait. Peja had the opportunity to say he didn't want a trade. He didn't say it. Petrie had the opportunity to say that Peja wouldn't be traded. He didn't say it. Everyone's dodging the question, trying to say the politically correct thing. Doesn't mean a trade's going to happen, but finding a taker for Peja is a lot better bet, I'd imagine, than finding one for CWebb.

Sacramento trades: PG Bobby Jackson (11.9 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.3 apg in 21.7 minutes)
Sacramento receives: PF Chris Wilcox (9.4 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 0.9 apg in 21.8 minutes)
SF Bobby Simmons (16.5 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 2.8 apg in 38.0 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +14.0 ppg, +7.7 rpg, and +1.4 apg.

L.A. Clippers trades: PF Chris Wilcox (9.4 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 0.9 apg in 21.8 minutes)

Change in team outlook: -14.0 ppg, -7.7 rpg, and -1.4 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to Sacramento and L.A. Clippers being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Sacramento and L.A. Clippers had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

I personally like this better despite the fact that is won't happen

Sacramento trades: PG Bobby Jackson (11.9 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.3 apg in 21.7 minutes)

Change in team outlook: -2.1 ppg, -0.1 rpg, and +1.8 apg.

PF Chris Webber (21.1 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 5.4 apg in 36.2 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +2.1 ppg, +0.1 rpg, and -1.8 apg.

TRADE DECLINED

Due to Sacramento and L.A. Clippers being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Sacramento and L.A. Clippers had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did not happen here (only Sacramento met the condition). This trade does not satisfy the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

If there is anyone besides Miller I would not like to see leave the Kings is Bobby Jackson. I dont care anything about stats, health, he has been the spark plug that starts the Kings fire. He'll be back from this, and be that 6th man again. Trading him just does'nt seem right.

You do realize that trade CANNOT be completed. That's what the "TRADE DECLINED" means.

Come on, folks. It's bad enough to wade through all the trades that ARE possible. If you're going to start posting all the ones that AREN'T, we might as well just change the name of the board to FANTASYTRADESTHATWONTWORK.COM

I found that to be quite funny :p

How about this one to put us over the top:

self.focus();
Sacramento trades: SF Erik Daniels(0.5 ppg, 0.9 rpg, 0.2 apg in 3.9 minutes) Sacramento receives: C Shaquille O'Neal(23.1 ppg, 10.6 rpg, 3.0 apg in 35.1 minutes) Change in team outlook: +22.6 ppg, +9.7 rpg, and +2.8 apg.

Miami trades: C Shaquille O'Neal(23.1 ppg, 10.6 rpg, 3.0 apg in 35.1 minutes) Miami receives: SF Erik Daniels(0.5 ppg, 0.9 rpg, 0.2 apg in 3.9 minutes) Change in team outlook: -22.6 ppg, -9.7 rpg, and -2.8 apg.

TRADE DECLINED

Okay, I just changed the title of this thread. Please check the first post. As you can see, I have now officially designated THIS THREAD as THE thread for posting your last-minute trade proposals. Post away to your heart's content. Any new threads about this will be merged into this one.

:D

It seems like some on this board have an aversion to discussing trades and some don't. I can fully understand the rationale for both. But isn't it kind of like people who complain that the quality of TV sucks yet they can't turn it off? Other teams have a whole section on trades only for those who like to talk trades about theirs and other NBA teams. Would there be enough interest to do that on this board or is our current interest piqued strictly because many of us see a need for change, are bored etc.?

I actually like talking about trades. My only request is that they be possible and practical for the teams involved. Occasionally, teams WILL make what seems to be a BAD trade. Primarily, they are dumping salaries. However, some GM's are just not very smart.

So, if it's financially possible and make at least a little sense it doesn't really hurt to talk about it.

Any chance we can get an official trade deadline clock coded right into the side of each thread? You know, one where I can see the seconds ticking by? That would be so fulfilling.

I think the current interest is because of the rumors, the pending deadline, etc. Generally, trade threads are for off-season - at least that's when they seem to be most prevalent.

The only reason I made this thread the "official" pending trade deadline thread was so that people wouldn't be starting new threads for every random idea they came up with as the deadline neared.

:D

Personally, I dislike a lot of trade talk simply because of how many people seem to confuse possible with fantasy. But that's just me. I like G_M's caveat...
So, if it's financially possible and make at least a little sense it doesn't really hurt to talk about it.

At least it will soon be over, at least until TDOS (the dreaded off-season), at least for the most part.
