First and foremost, a BIG thank you to Prophetess for her excellent job filling in for me last night. It is greatly appreciated.
Tonight is the first chance for the Arco faithful to show their support to the returning veterans, the draft picks, the other new acquisitions and the guys trying to earn a spot on the roster. The first home game of the year - even if it's pre-season - is always electric. This should be no exception.
I'll get the commercial out of the way right off the bat:
We're all here because of the unceasing dedication and generosity of our board owner and Grand Poobah, JGar. We have the most active Kings message board on the Internet AND we have it without pop-ups, annoying ads constantly scrolling across the page, etc. If you would like to help defray the costs of keep Kingsfans.com up and running as the #1 Sacramento Kings Online Community, then please consider becoming a Contributing Member You get a larger avatar, you can create your own unique user title AND you get the satisfaction of knowing you've helped. There is no obligation, of course, but your Contributing Membership is always appreciated.
In other news, we still have some tickets left for the annual Kingsfans.com opening night gamefest. Check out the thread in the Ticket forum.
For any newcomers, the PBP thread is the Kingsfans.com way of sharing the real time game experience with those members who cannot see or otherwise follow the game live. We know nba.com and a couple of other sites have what they call PBP, but we try and give you a little more: The Kings game experience from a real live KINGS fan point of view. This isn't an interactive thread. It's a monologue. If you want to discuss the game as it's happening, you need to check out the GAME DISCUSSION thread. During the season it will be hosted by our resident piksimist, piksi, but he's still sharpening darts, etc. so the game discussion thread has been started by different members. Regardless of who starts it, it's a lively place to discuss the game. All we ask is that you keep your comments civil. It's not about name-calling, player bashing, etc. It's about sharing your game time experience with other Kings fans.
It's a new season so I have new Kings paraphenalia to go along with my revered purple slippers. I have a Martin jersey I acquired at one of the games I attended last year. I have my crystal Martin dog tag necklace, a new Kings bear, some new decals and my new favorite - the Kevin Martin racing car lapel pin. This thing is really awesome. If you're so inclined, be sure and check out the online Kings store. They've added a lot of new items for your shopping pleasure.
Game time is 7 p.m. According to my onscreen guide, the game is being covered by Comcast and NBA-TV, which means some of you outside Sacramento will be able to view it.
My beverage of choice for tonight's game is Gevalia French Vanilla with a bit of caramel. Good stuff!!!
So, get comfortable and get ready. It's almost time for KINGS basketball!!!
I LOVE THIS TEAM!
