At first, I was somewhat surprised to see that this hadn't been posted here, but then I remembered from all the music draft threads what the general demographics of this board are (I don't mean anything negative by that; I'm just saying), which is to say that few of the people here actually old enough to know who Teena Marie was actually listen to that kind of music.

As an R&B fan, though, this is kind of a big deal, and she will be missed. RIP

Well the board was dead most of yesterday evening and today wasn't it? I don't like to post obits, but my wife told me this last night and we were quite surprised and saddened, I had not heard of her recent health issues.

I know that her real credit to the musical world was not the song "Lovergirl" but that is still how I mostly remember her.

Lady Tee, the Ivory Queen of Soul, protégée of Rick James. As Slim said most on this board probably were out of the demographic but she really was kind of a big deal.

Weird, I have never heard of her before in my life. But then again, I wasn't around when she was a hit.
