With the legal and PR issues, Davis might very well prefer to be in Toronto right now and not in media heavy NY. The 3 mill balances the contracts out so it's not really a gain for NY, and that pick (likely a late pick) basically cost NY 17 million since Rose is on the payroll until after next year. Toronto gets a player who can play center, and if things don't work out, see ya! - 10 mill off the books. They don't need that late pick, since they have enough young players. Half their roster consists of players with 3 or less years of experience. Right now they need to look for veteran players and guys who've won in the league. They need to assure Bosh that they’re ready to win now, if they want him to re-sign. Toronto comes out just slightly ahead as far as need is concern, whereas NY is doing exactly what they’ve been doing for years; just collecting big contract after big contract.
