NY Times Article: Foreboding in Sacramento as the Kings Wither Away

Good article. No finger pointing. No whining. Just facts. Big time props to Mike and Carmichael Dave for doing what they've done.

Im just sad. Not mad anymore, just sad. Ive supported this team since day 1. I was 11 years old. Oh man..........

i feel ya man, after wednesday its going to be.. i dunno cant describe it. Hurts and cuts ya deep. They may very well be tears. I cant face up to the fact that the lights will be out in Arco forever and our hometown team will have gone.

I agree it's an extremely balanced presentation of the facts - stressing facts. But one cannot come away from quotes of Kings part-owner Bob Cook, Carmichael Dave, plus others and not say that a big part of ultimate blame is clearly to be laid at the feet of the city of Sacramento - who have presided over "the sleepy capital city" by mostly being either asleep or obstructionist for at least a decade.

Someone in my dinner party told me they were going to the game against the Lakers on Wed. I got the big shrug from her and then she said she was going to the A's game on Friday. The whole thing was kind of curious.

Good all-encompassing article and it warmed my heart to see the words "self loathing." It never before occurred to me that cities can have the semblance of a personality but I spotted this city's personality when I moved here. It was a big plus to me .................. then. Now I see it as not a good thing. In any case, the article probably told us nothing new except it was a nice couple page summary of what most of us would need a small novel to explain. It's a great skill. Perhaps why the writer has his job, huh? :)

If this IS to be the end...I hope the fans that are there can ignore the obnoxious LA fans, this night isn't about them...it isn't even about the game itself. It's about celebrating Sacramento, and it's 26 year history with our team known as the Kings...no matter how bad they played and how bad their record...they were always Kings to us! Memories...

I feel the same way.....

I hated the thought that there'll be plenty of Lakers' fans there and thought about skipping the game. Then I said , "Hell no, this is the Lakers playing MY KINGS and may be the last Sacramento game." I'm going to go a scream till my ears bleed. Well, maybe not THAT loud, but close. ;)

At the game last night, they were advertising standing room only tickets. I sort of dread seeing a sea of ugly yellow.

You know what I like about your city? There are a sh*tload of golf courses here. Some of them are pretty damn nice, and there are always good deals to be found. Whitney Oaks for $25 with cart, range and ice chest? Awesome! We are planning on hitting it tomorrow. No one in my group seems to care that it may be the last Kings game here, or that it is against the Lakers.

Well, that wouldn't be the first time that a golf group had no interest in the goings on of the Kings or any other NBA team. No surprise there.

Then again, why is it "their" city. Shouldn't Roseville be considered Sacramento as well?

It's part of the metro area.

We didn't play golf. Too important a day. We'll hit it on Saturday when the weather will be nicer anyway.

ha, thanks man. You might be from SoCal or whatever but you're definitely alright in my book, you're a cool guy. Thanks for supporting Sac.

Oh ok. That was pretty much my point. Roseville is part of the Sac metro area so I was just confused as to why you referred to it as "their" city if you have roots here or come up here a lot.
