Now what do you think of The Cat trade

With The Cat finally getting to play after only a 1 hour shootaround with the team. Let me know what you guys and gals think of the trade now. do you agree with it or not. Me personally i would like to be the first member of KingsFans.com to jump on The Cat's bandwagon.

I don't like your third choice. What about "I don't know because I really think it's too early?" or something like that? Some people haven't made up their minds. I don't think it makes them "stupid."

Just my three cents. BTW, I would have selected the I don't know yet but I'm sure liking what I've seen so far option.

it certainly might be little too early to say, but if I have to..... then, so far so good. From what I have seen in the highlights preview on TV, Cat is showing that he might fit in just fine.....

I'm going to wait a few more games and then make my decision. However, its was nice to see him have 4 blk shots and a steal at the right time.

I thought the trade was a good one from the beginning. Dougs shooting and defense had slacked off some. The princeton offense requires good outside shooters to be truly effective. Doug was still great as a playmaker but Sac has plenty of those with Webber and Miller often filling in. Orlando needs a playmaker. BTW doug was running point for the magic last night at the end of the game, and they beat the pacers. Hedo was on the floor also, but Grant Hill won them the game.

This was a good trade for this season. We are more dangerous now than we were.

I am worried about our intention to resign him, just based on how skittish we've been about salaries these last few years. But Doug wasn't going to be much help next year anyway (age continuing to rob him), so even if we let Cat walk, we won't lose much that we would have had otherwise. I'm really hopin he works out and we don't let him walk though. Very talented player + to have gotten him for a guy in decline is a real coup. Be stupid to just let a high-teens scorer walk off a few months after you steal him. If nothing else has significant trade value.

I agree with Bricklayer's opinion. That is why I like the trade more too. We are a more dangerous team. Therefore I voted for the second choice.

For having just shot around for one afternoon it was a good peformance, but he will have to be broken of this, "The ball is passed to me so I'm going to shoot it.". He passed the ball off a few times, BUT a lot of the time when the ball came to him it was shot immediately. He aslo tried to force a few drives, and create things that weren't there. I liked the defense though. I"m sure he'll work better into the offense in time.

Me, too!

I think it would be stupid and uninformed to say after one game.

But I also think Cat instantly helped our "Whole" Team defense. He seems really quick and he can jump big time(4 blocked shots). Not to mention House, even though he's struggled a little bit on offense he's pretty good on D as well. The Kings look much more active on the defensive end these last few games, I like what I see... You'll get my vote after 4 more games.

I think one game is plenty. In fact i thought it before the first game was played. It doesn't take a genius to see that 17 pts per game is better than 6. Or that Dougs defense wansn't all that great this year or last. As far as the assist goes. Well take 17 subtract 6 for the point differential thats like 5 self assits :)

One more note. I have heard about the chemistry between doug and the rest of the team. I won't say there was none but from what i saw. During shoot around doug goes through the layup drill then he sits on the Kings bench with his head down with a towel draped over him until the starting lineups are announced. Now as far as the locker room goes Jackie comes on the floor with him and leaves the floor with him. I imagine she was pretty much up under him in the locker room.

Now that I think is just revisionist history. Doug may be a bit of a strange duck, but was an abolutely huge chemistry guy for us. As far as I know there's not a King who ever had anything bad to say about him the player. In fact probably the best argument to keep him would have been based on his unique ability to bridge whatever gap there might be between Webber and Peja and be both guys' friends.

I have less than no use for Jackie, but Doug's legacy in Sacto has nothing to do with his wife. She was just a sideshow. The main act was a selfless hardworker who earned every player and coach's respect, but just got too old to help anymore.

You can't base your impression of Doug and the team chemistry on what you saw the one game you attended.

Doug was a warrior; he gave everything to our team every single time he stepped on the court. He was extremely well-liked and respected by virtually everyone in the organization, at Arco, etc.

Please. Doug deserves a fitting legacy and from THIS Kings fan, at least, he's going to get it.

He was part of the group of five (Jason, Doug, Pedja, Chris, Vlade) that made my heart pound with excitement. He put it all out there every single night. He never phoned in a performance and even when he wasn't playing well, he found a way to contribute. He was one of the "quiet" leaders of our team the entire time he was here. He didn't have to say a lot. He led by example and our new players would be well served to remember those examples. Give it all and if you have to, dig deep and give a little more.

The fact most of the team went immediately to his house upon hearing the news of the trade speaks for itself. They wanted to make sure he knew how much they had enjoyed working with him and how much he would be missed. There was team chemistry at its best.

I wish that in 2 years when dougs contract is up. He retires and comes to the Kings as the defensive coach.

Its going to be hard to find one now. But just go to any site that sells them and order a cusotmized jersey with his name on the back instead of yours and put the number 3. That is what i had to do when i got my bro-inlaw a Miller jersey for Christmas.

I was too stupid to vote. Doug Christie was a very valuable part of this team and the Sacramento community, regardless of what some very intelligent fans thought of his wife, or of his personal relationship with her.

I'm new to the board, new to being a King's fan and definitely did not know Doug. [That's probably my loss] I am reading all of the tributes to Doug, all the feelings that the fans have for him and can only wonder...who will fill the void that evidently he is leaving? Not just his game, maybe not even most importantly ...his game...how about the rest of the attributes the man held. I don't know Mobley, but, I don't see those attributes in him. Does he look like a true "King" to you guys. Forget the abilities! Do you really think he is a King? I ask, b/c I don't know enough to comment, but IMO, Mobley seems to be a "me" person rather than a team player. Perhaps I am judging too quickly. I hope that is the case.

I agree.
Matter of fact, I do not think Mobley will resign here next year. If I had to guess, Mr. Martin would be our starting SG at the beginning of the 05-06 season.
