He's restricted. Grizz will match.
It's a sign and trade deal
RealGM said:
The Rockets are close to signing Marc Gasol to a max contract offer sheet worth $55 million over four seasons.

Houston is working on a sign-and-trade with Memphis to secure him.

The Grizzlies have been expected to retain Gasol, with the idea that they would match nearly an offer he would receive.

If Houston is out, who is left as suitors?
Ind had money, just signed West, and working on getting Mayo. GS has money, but is after Jordan hard. Mia looked elsewhere. NJ doesn't appear interested. Dal got Odom.

Not sure if there is anyone besides us if he wants more than maybe 5M per. Maybe Por? But haven't heard any interest from them at all.

I think that Golden State and Denver would be the two teams we'd have competition from.
And Nene is still out there.

I don't see any downside for the Kings if this Memphis/Houstan S&T goes through.

Yeah the Golden State thign with the Clippers will matter.

From what I've heard here in the bay, is that GS would jump at CP3 if possible. Also, interested in Nene. Haven't heard Daly mentioned once. But, never know.

I haven't heard anything regarding interest in Daly from either GS or Denver, but they should have the cap room in order to sign Dalembert. Other than those two teams, I'm not certain who else can offer more than the MLE.

I'd be fine for Clippers to retain Jordan for the 4/40 deal, which it appears they will do, then have GS take on salary to get Chris Paul, then have Denver re-sign Nene, leaving Dalembert all to us for a decent contract.

Question is...would Petrie even sign him now after signing Hayes? Even if his price is lower...8M/year or so? He'd be forced to trade at least one big guy right away

First, it's a good position to be in, to have too many solid NBA bigs.

If we do get Dalembert I think it's likely that you'd probably end up trading away one of the guys, and I think the odd man out would be JT.

I like JT a lot, and think he's a great big off the bench, since he can cover both the 4 and 5 spots.
But we just brought in Hickson, and Hickson has the better upside. (Though JT could end up being the better/more solid player)
So you have Cousins and Dalembert as the starters, Hayes to deal with low-post bigs, and Hickson as the athletic upside guy, with Whiteside somewhere in the wings.

I'm trying to keep my hopes down a little bit, but I'd love for us to somehow manage to re-sign Dalembert. And to be honest, I think he does come back to the team if he's left between us and MLE offers.

Well, looks as if it's not a S&T, but rather an offer from Houston for a 4yr/55mil offer, which will be matched by Memphis.
That probably puts Houston in the lead for Nene.

What a stupid contract. In fact what a whole bunch of stupid contracts coming out of this lockout. Jeesh. We have been one of the few teams where the contracts we have handed out have been pretty much spot on.

I agree. Some have criticized giving Thornton's contract, but I think it's likely that a team would have thrown out a bigger contract similar to DeAndre Jordan's knowing that we would very likely match it.

Well, I now expect to see Nene get signed for more than what Gasol gets.
Either the Nuggets or the Rockets will sign him.

As mentioned, it looks as if GS is about to make a big move, as they just amnestied Charlie Bell who's only worth 4mil for this year. So if Houston gets Nene, I don't see Denver wanting Dalembert, which means that we've probably got the best shot if Dalembert wants more than the MLE.

What kind of Big Man crazy is this?

Adrian Wojnarowski: DeAndre Jordan has signed a 4 year, $43 million offer sheet with Golden State, agent Greg Lawrence tells Y! Twitter

And I hear Clippers are planning to match (maybe why they only want Chis Paul for 2 yrs)
Almost 11 mil a year for Jordan ....... Really?

Memphis Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley told TNT’s David Aldridge on Sunday afternoon that the Grizzlies would match the four-year, $55 million offer sheet the Houston Rockets have reportedly prepared for restricted free agent center Marc Gasol

Almost 14 mil a year for Marc Gasol ..... Really?

Why wouldn't GS make a move for Dally (assuming the Clips match their offer for Jordan)?
They want CP3. Here in the bay, there is A LOT of talk about GS getting back into talks with NO about him.

Aside from that, anyone else a little surprised at how few rumors Daly has been a part of? I am. Mia didn't even appear to consider him. Dal quickly traded for Odom as soon as he became available. Hou seems interested, but he looks like a backup, to a backup plan. They want both Gasol brothers, and Nene more. I think Hou actually offered a deal at about 9M per, but have since taken it off the table. Besides those clubs, I haven't heard one other interested team. He seriously might not have any other options above 5M per, other than us. But yes, I;d say GS is a wildcard, but haven't heard anything yet, and I live here and follow closely.

Dally have stone hands compared to Chandler, Gasol, Nene, or Jordan. He fumbles quick/blind passes. When this big man frenzy ends, if Dally doesn't get signed with the Kings, he will get signed with another team not because they see him helping on offense but because he's next good big man left after Chandler, Gasol, Nene, and Jordan.

I hope Dalembert returns to the Kings because Cousins is the only big man that would make him useful on offense too.

Petrie on Dalembert: "Right now we’ve got a proposal that we’ve made that we’re sitting on. " #nbakings

I watched the interview with Petrie and then I saw the tweet from Jones ... I'm not sure the 'offer out there' was said about Dalembert specifically, just that there was just an offer out there for someone. My initial thought was the AK offer we apparently put out there ( Grant said that himself on twitter ).

Maybe Jones is right and its Dally, but I didn't get the sense that was who Geoff was talking about when he made that comment.

I thought it was AK. Maybe the offer is still on the table?

Maybe I am keeping blind faith here but I would still love to get Dalembert back. We would be SO much better with him back. We would arguably have the best front court rotation in the league. Certainly the deepest.

I would like AK but realistically, it would have to be a ridiculous offer for him to leave CSKA. He is getting paid tuck loads of Euros to play in his native country for a team that he grew up with. A couple of months ago he said he is very happy and the standard of basketball played over there is high. He is nearing the end of his career and most of the european players would like to end their career with the team that they grew up in. In Kirilenko's case, it also happens to be one of the richest teams in Europe and it is prepared to open up the wallet.

I would not be surprised at all if we have seen the last of AK47 in the NBA. This of it this way, if he gets $10 million a season for the next 4 years, by the time agent takes his cut, he pays his taxes it would be $5-6 million after tax. That is roughly 4 to 4.5 million euros. That is the figure he would be getting playing in Russia. On top of that there would be other perks like luxury apartment and cars (paid by the team), endorsement deals as as the biggest basketball celebrity in a basketball crazed country etc....

The offer would have to be huge for him to consider moving back to the States and I am not sure that there would be team that be willing to bid that high.
