No HD for road games?

I don't know if anyone else has noticed but all of 2009 games were in HD now since 2010 only the home games are in HD. Is this another Maloof cost cutting measure?

I have AT&T UVerse and I get the home and road games in HD. The only thing I notice about the road HD signal is the picture is a little washed out looking compared to the home HD signal which is nice and crisp.

None of the road games have been broadcast in "full" HD this season.

However, there still are upgrades from last season. Last season, the CSN-HD channel did not carry road games at all. This year all the road games (except the first one, I think) have been carried on the CSN-HD channel in a 16x9 aspect ratio (instead of the SD 4x3 ratio) meaning no black bars on the side. However, I think the feed is still 480p and upconverted to the 1080i for broadcast on the HD channel, so the quality is slightly (and noticeably) worse than home games.

That's better than standard broadcasts, especially on a high def TV. It was horrible trying to watch the Kings broadcast. I'll take upconvert anyday.

Much agreed. I mean, you can tell the difference from full HD if you pay attention, but the upconvert is still night-and-day better than the SD broadcast from last year.

There was like one road game in HD earlier in the year for me and now I don't get any of the road games in HD. The HD CSN channel is usually blacked out during road games for me now and I am forced to switch it to the pee-poor quality SD channel. Its almost better to go into a different room and watch it on a standard TV at that point because SD on an HDTV is just plain horrible.

It's 2010.. EVERYTHING SHOULD BE IN HD!

THAT IS THE BEST STATEMENT I HAVE READ HERE IN WEEKS !!

COMMON SENSE SAYS THAT:

ALL SPORTS TELEVISED SHOULD BE IN H D ! !

It's Two THOUSAND and FREEKING T E N !! We may never get the George Jetson Jetcar that flies U to work, but HD on E V E R Y POSSIBLE SPORTS BROADCAST (Darts, Soccer, Curling, Jai Alai , Sombo , Pétanque , even Poker (..if you actually consider a game that you get better at the more you drink is an actual sport...) THEY ALL....

MUST be TELEVISED in HD ! ! !

HD that must be available on every device POSSIBLE!! (Cell Phones, Laptops, Desktops, Car Stereo, Kids Toys, The sides of Campers tailgating at sporting events. Even the friggin microwave in your KITCHEN !!~)

HD is one of the scant few examples of our SEMI EVOLVED STATE OF EXISTENCE !! Without HD, WHAT ON EARTH would we BE Judged ON TO PROVE OUR SENTIENCE and measurable Evolution as a species EXACTLY? Our Politics ???? (Please stop and laugh for as long as needed, regain your composure and continue...). Our inability to live peacefully on a giant planet that has plenty room for EVERYBODY ??!? Our ability to develop technologies (Plural !) to completly annihilate one another, and yet we still are using Fossil Fuels...Literally Burning the ooze left over from the plants and animals that died millions upon millions of years ago. You would think that OUR SPECIES would have focused even a modicum of thought power into creating a power source that is as never ending as the stars themselves (The possibility of Fusion Power)? A POWER SOURCE THAT OUR SPECIES DESPERATELY NEEDS TO KEEP EVERYTHING FROM COLLAPSING BECAUSE OF OUR COMPLETE RELIANCE UPON AN EVER SHRINKING SUPPLY OF FOSSIL FUELS WITHOUT NO PLAN AT ALL TO KEEP THE EVER GROWING NEED FOR MORE AND MORE POWER FROM EXCEEDING OUR ABILITY TO CONTINUE PRODUCING IT. OR EVEN MORE FRIGHTENING, THE COMPLETE EXHAUSTION OF THE RESOURCE ENTIRELY ???

And yet we ARE still BURNING DINO DOOKIE ! SO, are any of our HUMAN ACTIVITIES credible signs OF our Evolution or Sentience ?? OR DOES IT ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE WE ARE STUCK IN A monumental RUT ? I'm hoping for divine intervention!!

One of the FEW examples of our years of clashing, destroying, rebuilding, striving, struggling, succeeding and existing is our Precious Technology. HDTV is a very visible signs of our High Technology !! HD is something that looks great, is affordable to the masses for the most part, and is a visible sign of our ingenuity and our ability to evolve. Radio-> Theaters -> Black and White tv's -> Color tv's -> Digital -> HDTV! It is a clear path and a definitive sign of our sentience as a species and our ability to overcome for the common good. (Well, except for the commercials, which were UNAVOIDABLE but some are quite funny.) DESPITE ALL OF IT'S QUESTIONABLE CONTENT and meaningless overall importance to the survival of humanity:

HDTV is an ALTRUISTIC GOOD !!:D

HD is the most overrated technological development in the history of civilization. HD doesn't make a bad program good, or even interested. It doesn't a good program better. It sort of just is what it is. I don't grok the mentality that causes a person to think that a program is ostensibly unwatchable if it's not in high definition, and I can only consider myself thankful that I don't suffer from that particular handicap.

I mostly agree with this. I will say sporting events are better in HD. I would prefer to watch it in HD, but by no means do I require it to enjoy what im watching.

HD is super overrated though, IMO. Its good, but overrated.

I used to think like that until I got HD. got HD in the living room and non HD (aka SD) in the bedroom. I can turn the same game on in each room and compare. For instance the Kings game. The numbers on the players jerseys are just run together with no edges. I wouldn't say overated. I mean something get overated by people that go on and on about it all day. Its an uneccesary luxury but, I'd rather have it as long as I can afford it.

Yeah, well, I used to think that it was going to be some "OMG," revolutionary innovation. And then I got one, and it doesn't enhance my television watching worth a ****. And now, I'm pissed at the so-called friends whom I let talk me into buying one. SOOOO overrated!

The numbers on the jerseys run together? How bad is your eyesight? Or, alternatively, how ****ty is your TV, because I've never experienced anything like that before, ever.

Completely and absolutely 100 per cent DISAGREE!! I have a 50 inch in my family room. And the difference between HD and non HD on a non-HD channel like 698-Comcast on Direct TV is comparing 1950 to 2010. That is how bad it is.

Now on a slimmer smaller wide screen plasma like a 30 inch, you can't tell much of a difference.

The Kings road games have never been in HD, except an occasional Laker, Warrior road game back when the economy is better. The reason why road games are not in HD for MS and E is money and finances plain and simple.

Yes, I do agree 100%. I have a 56 inch tv and you can definitely tell between HD and non HD. Watching it non HD, I can't tell who the players are because its so grainy. With HD, you can tell if the players are sweating. I know, probably too much information, but its true. Its very crystal clear when watching in HD.

You must have a 36 and under TV. You will really notice the difference on a 50 inch plus. 50 inch is the minimum to see the true HD scale.

Whats sad is I can see in SD better on my 50 inch when I turn the guide on the game is in a little box.

You must have visited my house, because I can not describe it any better than that. GRAINY!!! Now I will say that my 50+ inch HDTV is an older model (2003) so I am sure newer generations is better quality, but with what I have, HD to non-HD is like night and day.

I'll take your word for it; Sony.com has a Bravia NX800 52" priced at twenty-eight hundred dollars. That's more than I paid for my car. I'm not spending more on a television than I would on a car.

How bad is his TV? How bad is his eyesight?

How bad is yours if you find the difference from SD to HD largely negligible? The difference is so stark I can hardly watch a news cast if it is not in high def. You know what they say, once you go HD.....

But seriously, those of us who prefer HD are not the deluded ones. If we were we wouldn't see the vast majority of all television networks worldwide switching from standard 480i broadcasts to 1080i and 1080p broadcasts in just a matter of about a half decade.

Slim, go get a good TV, get a blu-ray player and buy the Planet Earth box set. Then tell me HD isn't worth it.

In the begining of the year CSN had all kings games in HD..now its just home..and when its not in HD its horrible to watch unless u dont have a flatscreen...i dont know if thats a sacramento thing or what..cuz alot of other teams have HD on road and home.

Yes that is way too much. You can get into a 50 inch plasma for around $600. Plasma is the best for sports and hi action stuff. But I recommend the Panasonic first then Samsung which run around $799.
