Looks like the Padres snuck a win in today against the Giants. I'm getting a little nervous here as a Padres fan because the Giants are playing much better than them right now. Should be a close race these last games.

How are you Giants fans feeling?

Honestly, I doubt you have anything to worry about.

If we would have won today, I would be riding a high horse, but the Giants can't get over the hump and get that HUGE win that they sorley need.

The nl west is a joke. Whoever wins is gonna get swept in the playoffs. But if I had to choose, I would obviously choose the padres.

The NL West may be a joke, but the Padres will be dangerous in a five game series. Say the play St. Louis, which is probable, the Padres start with Jake Peavy in game 1, which puts the odds in their favor. Adam Eaton, who will be at full strength, is an extremely tough game 2. Sidenote: The Padres are leading the NL in runs scored away. Game 3 at home, Chan Ho can pitch in Petco. Hardly looks like a sweep.

And for the Giants case!

Game One: Jason Schmidt, if he pitches as good as he can, is nearly Cy Young good.

Game Two: Noah Lowry, if he continues like he is now, is very good.

Game Three: Brad Hennessy, he may not be good, but he sure can blank the Cards.

Hardly a sweep, as well!

Omg, and st. louis has the best record for what again? There's a reason why the padres are where their at and the cardianals are where their at.

They should ban any team from the NL West from competing in the playoffs.
and why would they do that? because of a low record? football teams make it to the playoffs all the time with records of 8-8, what is the difference?

boohoo, looks like the Giants are again down by six games. Good old Sean Borroughs is clutch. I don't know who I want to lose in this upcoming Dodgers vs. Giants series. I have a deep dislike for both.

Cards out in 4 games, beaten by padres. Write it down, memorize it, and understand it.

i am sorry, but you are delusional.

the cards will sweep you guys if they face you. ok maybe the pads win a game with peavy, MAYBE. seriosuly, this is the cards.

chris carpenter is going to win the cy young ( oh and he has much better numbers then peavy does this year, while playing half of his games in a hitters park. he doesn't have the spacious petco park to save home run balls) , mark mudler is a helluva #2 guy.

chan ho park???? woody williams?? seriously, these guys can dominate a crappy line up like the giants, but not the cards. pujols, edmunds, sanders. you bring up injuries, well rolen has been out most of the year ( he's done for the rest of the year with shoulder surgery) sanders had a broken leg for a while, the cards have been banged up themselves. yet they went a won their division back in june, and the pads are desperatly trying to win the weakest division baseball has seen in a loooooooong time.

again, i'm sorry, but the cards aren't being beat by the pads. they are probably winning the world series this year.

First, Peavy doesn't need a spacious park to save homerun balls, he leads the league in strikeouts per game. Second, you forgot about Adam Eaton. There's two wins. Call it delusional, I'll laugh at you when the Cards are beat and put your whole comment as my signature. Until then......................................

if the pads are so dangerous, why are they stuggling to win the worst division baseball has seen in some time??? even with all their injuires, no one has mounted any kind of threat. the bums never were any good ( that hot start fizzled FAST, rockies are never going to be a threat, the giants had no line up and had major pitching issues, the d-backs are too incosistent) with no threat, the pads still couldn't pull away. even with the injuries they were considerably better then anyone else in the NL west.

eaton V mulder??? seriously. mark mulder all the way. he has playoff experience, which eaton has none of. i think you overeastimate him. i've seen a lot of eaton, i know. he's had his way with the giants many a time.

the cards are the best team in the league, no way in hell they lose to the padres in the playoffs. i'm sorry, but i just don't see it happening

Dang! Too bad I am not a betting person. I could clean up on you and your Western Division leading Padres who can't even win more games than they lose.:p

If you were a betting person, you would realize the money line and the spread are not in the Cards favor, the Padres are such an underdog that betting on the Padres would be wise. Anyways, I'm hoping you NL West naysayers eat your words.

I don't care how many wins the Cards have. This is about matchups. Padres have won 4 out of the 7 times they've met. Plus, the Padres lead the NL in runs scored in away games. So yeah, I say so.

Anyone catch the Padres vs. Nationals game last night??? Down 5 in the bottom of the ninth, Kalil Greene, who has been 0-15 up until this point, hits a grand slam to tie off of Cordero. Extra Innings, bottom of 12th Ramon Hernandez walk off 3 run homer. This was one of the most exciting games I've seen in a while and should solidify their playoff spot.

Giants down six games with 13 to play. Magic number shrinking fast. Is it possible to overcome Giant fans? Both teams have won 3 in a row, we'll see who falters first.

Magic number for the Padres is 8. We MUST sweep you in our upcoming 4 game series next week.

Alou wins it for the Giants in the 9th and Barry gets #706 and the Pads lose 20-1.

great pitching by burroughs uop in coors. he only gave up a 3 run shot.

20-1 to the worst team in the NL

ouch...

meanwhile, in DC bonds hit one that still hasn't landed..... alou's isn't far behind. what a catch by linden! i thought for sure that was going to drop.

Rockies may have the worst record in the NL, but they are by far the hottest team right now.(in NL west)

Ouch............5.5 games back. Magic number shrinking. Giants are out. Mark my words.

Enough Said.
That can happen when the most dominant or game changing player in baseball is gone for the year along with key injuries. Wait till next year when you're on the outside looking in.

Cant play .500 ball but you can beat the Cards?
