NFL 2025-2026 Thread

Eh, fine. But SEA is also incredibly good on D and they're always one of the toughest road outs in football. In a massive transition year where we once again lost most of our elite playmakers... you take the W and run with it.

Defense held strong most of the game too. Now, we have 6 weeks until we face a truly worrisome defense again with the Texans on the road.

Our defense looked solid for what they are at the moment and came through when they were needed most.

I wish I could figure out what happened to Purdy's decision making skills. He was basically Aaron Rodgers in 22-23 and has turned into Jimmy G from 24-25. Small sample size this year obviously but he's really making some questionable decisions with the ball lately that he never did when he was younger.

It was disappointing to see him regress in his decision making - the game was pretty similar to the Viking game last year - but the 49ers defense played better this Seahawks game - and the Vikings have a much better receiving core than the Seahawks.

Purdy might do well to pull the ball down and run for 2 or 3 yards more often - he had a great scramble on the TD drive to sideline. He can use his quickness and change of direction to his advantage. Also he looks like he's taking a little bit too much off the ball - it at least partially is because the line has been average pass blocking and he's avoiding hits . Though he's holding the ball longer too. He's very accurate close in, and I think they should work more on Brady-ish 5 yard workman throws with him - (remember all the quick slants of old ).

Versus the Rams and Cardinals with the same kind of mistakes as yesterday they likely lose as both those teams have better offenses. Kubiak played right into the 49ers defensive strength by forcing runs - Seahawks rushing long was 9 yards. Winters looked good which is encouraging - they need another LB to be consistent. They have something of a reprieve with a poor Saints team, and then the schedule goes up a solid notch -
Cardinals, Jaguars, @Rams, @Bucs. They get Robinson back off suspension vs the Jaguars.

If nothing else, yesterday's Niners-Seahawks game told me that the NFC West is gonna be a blood bath. I hope y'all are ready!!! :p:p:p
After last year it can't be much worse - but it might be. Both the Rams and the Cardinals are ready for this 49ers team especially now without most of their starting receivers and possibly McCaffrey by then as well letting Deebo go. Like I said to ESP47, I don't think the 49ers beat either of their other rivals if they have similar Seahawks mistakes from yesterday. Purdy has to play alot cleaner for starters, and that's already with a secondary handicap. Stafford is still very good, and Connor abused the 49ers last year. Murray gives em fits on runs -he's like Purdy's scrambling on 'roids.

I don't see this at all. Purdy in his nature is extremely aggressive and looks to hit big time plays/throws. He's never been a "Jimmy G" type safety valve QB.

There's not a single elite QB that isn't "risky" with the ball at times. They're looking to push the ball down the field and create explosives. The Ravens/Bills game was good example of exactly that.

I didn't mean Jimmy G as a safety valve but Jimmy G as in the random head scratching throws that make no sense. Like the one to Pearsall where he was triple covered. I don't recall him making those types of decisions early in his career.

Now that I'm looking at the stats, last year he had a negligible uptick in his INT% while he threw 11 less TDs than the year before. Maybe it just seems like his interceptions are bigger killers now that they aren't putting up as many points on the board? His interceptions in 2023 probably weren't a big deal at the time but they're the clear difference in wins and losses right now. Despite having a weak arm, he's still one of the better long ball passers in the NFL but sometimes just moving the chains is all that's needed to wind up with 7.
