NFL 2022-2023 Season Thread

This was a pretty classic Jimmy G type game , but Purdy's mobility just gives the offense an extra added element. Made all the throws he needed to, escaped the pocket for some nice plays, didn't turn the ball over. Had the one really bad throw that should have been INT, but outside that? Damn good.

Tough, tough win for a rookie making his first career road start on a short week AND dealing with an injury so he probably didn't get much throwing work in. About as tough of context as you can create for a young QB and he stepped up

3-game sample now vs 3 pretty good defenses/teams and Purdy still holds up to the eye test and some of the numbers. I think you could see on a few of his throws today that the oblique was bothering him, but really he only missed that one throw that was purely dropped INT early in the game. Running for the 1st down was huge and if Aiyuk catches a ball that hits him squarely in the hands (Or Gould makes a 43 yd FG), this ends in another blow-out victory.

There just really isn't a drop-off from what Jimmy G was giving and what Purdy is doing out there. And Purdy gives you another added element with the mobility (running for the 1st down at the end of the game. Escaping the pressure and avoiding the safety to flip it to Ray Ray. I don't think Jimmy makes either of those plays). It's been a pretty much best case scenario of what we could expect from him.

The big hurdle I want to see is if we're down 14-3 and the game is in his hands to go win.

The 49ers aren't going to catch the Eagles, but passing the Vikings is worth a potentially extra home playoff game. Didn't get to see most of the game yesterday. It's time for Shanahan to start looking at scenarios for Purdy to scamper and coach him on them. Against good defenses he's going to have to scamper.

Sunday night game with Giants v Commanders is a de facto playoff game. Colts aren't playing well enough to disrupt the Vikings. But the 49ers have an edge in tiebreaking scenarios with their division record, and the Vikings with their average looking defense may open the door for 49ers vs Giants or Packers.

Lol Kirk Cousins just threw a pick 6. This is awful. The Colts are coached by a dude with absolutely no coaching experience. Now the Vikings are down 30-0.
