Welp
Lance looks like he's going to take quite a bit more seasoning before he is ready to take over. Some plays he looks good and other plays he very much looks like a rookie.

I actually agree with both of these to a certain extent. But it is curious why they keep dropping so many passes of his. Are they not used to his zip? Just a fluke? Who knows?Eh, I don’t necessarily agree (minor game 2 panic attack aside). There were indeed times when he looked bad. But Jimmy makes just as many stupid / bad mistakes/throws as a 7 year vet. The receivers catch Trey’s passes and his numbers this preseason are incredible… plus I have a feeling Shanahan had him holding back the legs.

Could be. When John Elway came into the league, it took a while for his receivers to adjust to him.I actually agree with both of these to a certain extent. But it is curious why they keep dropping so many passes of his. Are they not used to his zip? Just a fluke? Who knows?

I think at this point it is Jimmy just having more familiarity with the plays, players, and the NFL overall. He's a vet and knows what to do (even if he isn't the best at it all the time). Lance needs time and reps and the game will slow down for him at some point. He'll adjust. But I like him. Both QBs make the same types of mistakes from what I've seen so far. Mostly overthrowing guys over the middle or not hitting them in stride. Jimmy has better vision and decision making right now but Lance throws a better deep ball and has the running factor. I think it would be a big roll of the dice to try and run Lance out there right now when the team looks like they could very well be a playoff team with Jimmy at the moment.
I'm happy with what I've seen so far. Also in the post game today he looked like a lot less of a jerk than he did in his college days.Mac Jones looking pretty darn good.
I hadn't looked at week 1 until Coworkers bet -- still over a week away but Best matchup of week 1? - Browns vs Chiefs - go Dawgs....followed by Pack vs Saints. Other interesting matchups - Cardinals vs Titans, Fins vs Patsies, Steelers vs Bills, and RAens vs RAiders, and mildly Bears vs Rams. -- > Bears - Fields watch.
Coworker called Lance 'Tebow with 25s deliver, but movement that could help offset'. I don't disagree, and dont think Lance has a healthy enough fear of the pass rush, and needs to get one or at least coached one - was thinking, now maybe a young Cam Newton is a more apt comparison.
One matchup to watch that I'd add there is Chargers versus WFT. Herbert skipped all of preseason and has to face the stout Washington defense in his first taste of football in nine months. Houston versus Jacksonville might also be fun from a pure "haha these are two abjectly awful franchises" perspective.
With all due respect to your coworker, that is a terrible comparison. Tebow had both the weakest and most inaccurate arm I have ever seen. Trey's currently lacking a bit of touch (which could be attributed to him not really getting to play football for a year and a half) but has a rocket arm and can at least make basic QB reads, which Tebow could not. That Cam comparison is a good one but I think that the Steve McNair comps are much more accurate (dude from a small school who takes a couple of years to really get going), given that, even in his MVP prime, Cam was a dink-and-dunk king who never really had the greatest arm in the world but would run through dudes like Beast Mode.
the Niners effectively turned an undrafted dude they were going to cut into a 6th round pick lol
The game manager QB, the athletic freak QB, and the QB who throws the ball to the other team.Rosen >>> Sudfeld clearly
We could have run out a THREE HEADED QB MONSTER.
