Watching the Chargers broadcast of this game and I’m pretty sure their halftime crew is drunk (not from an analysis angle but from a three sheets to the wind slurring their speech angle)

Jameis cooking thus far and it's preseason so he won't be in the game long enough to throw his customary three interceptions.

Etienne out for potentially the whole year. Really makes the Jags choice of choosing a new rookie running back after they already had a breakout rookie last season look downright silly.

At this rate, Urban Meyer’s going to retire by the bye week.

Anyone feel like the Niners are holding off officially naming their starter because they’re hoping someone else panic trades for JimmyG before his value takes a hit as Trey’s backup?

That’s kind of my hunch. Or am I just hoping to hard for Trey to start when it’s not there yet?

I think they start the season with JimmyG as the starter. If he can look competent while the team wins (staying healthy, of course), they might be able to get more back for him in a trade. This would also allow Lance a few more games to get a better feel for the speed of the NFL.

I go back and forth on this. Trey just needs to play football; he hasn't really in the past 2 seasons with only 1 game played since 2019. And I do think this team is talented enough to pick up a rookie QB mistakes to let him learn on the fly. It also just wastes a year of the rookie contract QB, which is your best window to win a title before he costs $30+mil/season.

We don't know exactly what Lance will look like, but we know Jimmy just doesn't have the upside you want from a championship QB. At the same time, this is easily the most talented roster in the Shanny/Lynch era and the receiver corp is talented enough to boost the 20th best QB in the NFL.
