The Danny Ainge method of coming out after the fact and talking about how close you were to actually doing something never works unless you're Danny Ainge, in which case your job is secure barring you actually murdering someone.
It's "I had a better deal two weeks ago" all over again.
Is he though? Damn their luck for winding up with the two diva-iest franchise QBs of the last 30 years while most other teams seem to have been able to pass the torch without hostility if that's the case.
Yeah look at all the stuff he's been crying about. The fact that they released Jake Kumerow a day after Rodgers praised him? If the team already had planned to release him, why would they change up plans and hold on to him just because Rodgers praised him? I mean really, that situation was the final nail in the coffin? Leaving the team and city he played his entire hall of fame career for because they released Jake Kumerow a day after he made positive comments? I can only imagine all the insignificant crap he probably complains about on a day to day basis.
Rodgers thinks he is the QB, OC, coach, GM and owner these days. He sounds like a miserable person to be around.
I am not a Rodgers fan and I loathed Brett Favre. So far be it from me to defend them, I just want to know why Tom Brady can leave NE and be forever a Patriot - and Drew Bledsoe could be traded to the Bills when Brady usurped him and still comes back as a legacy player from time to time. Same with Montana. No bad blood between Manning when they had the opportunity to get Luck after his injuries. Seems like they also wish nothing but the best to Luck.
It's an unfortunate reality of sports today that even the most iconic players may leave their career defining team just to prove one final challenge before hanging it up. Or maybe that's a good thing in some folks' eyes. Either way, Favre went scorched earth with GB before ultimately joining their division rival as an ultimate FU and I can only imagine the damage with Rodgers will keep him out of alumni bbq weekends down the road. hell even Favre has been saying for a while now that GB is going to burn their bridges with Rodgers.
I am not saying they are good guys. Heck, to get to an elite level as QB you probably have to be an arrogant cocky jerk bordering on primadona. It's like lead singers or actors or high level politician, there's ego and demand for spotlight. But it also seems clear there's some level of dysfunction in that org that other successful franchises do not seem to have.
I don't see how it could be dysfunction when Green Bay made the correct decision in replacing Favre. If Love winds up being better than Rodgers, they'll replace him too. I don't see Jimmy G complaining about his replacement being drafted. He says all the right things even though you know it hurts to fake it. Rodgers is a grown man and he knows how the business of sports works. He's choosing to not act like a grown man the same way Favre chose not to. Both guys could have taken a lesson from basically every other QB in the league.

One of these players is the reigning MVP and one of the best QBs of all time and the other has spent over a full season on IR over the past three seasons and only threw eight passes in the NFC championship game.
Point taken but I'm not quite sure with what that has to do with acting like a professional.
I think that Rodgers is an insecure crybaby and you guys think his behavior is justified because he's a good player. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
I didn't say he was justified. I said that Green Bay must have something bad in the water for it to get so nasty twice in a row when just about every other face of the franchise for a decade QB that ended with the player on another team has generally had a feel good send off and when it's over the player comes back to the team and everybody loves one another.
