New Uniforms?

For those asking, here are two pictures of the checkerboard black road jerseys from 1997-98.

v :)v

Okay, can someone explain why specifically the NBA is opposed to black unis? Sorry if someone explained this, but I'm lazy and don't feel like digging through the thread.

ps richmond uni=pimp

I've heard that its to prevent kids from adopting black as a gang color with their logos etc...

Or its to keep the teams from all looking too simaliar with too much black, I dont know....

I think it's the latter.

i emailed john thomas and asked him why they havent gone back to the black road uni's and he said its outta the teams hands, its a league choice made so all the teams dont look alike

as long as they win I could care less what they wear

but I think we would all care if they wore less. :p

and I agree although personally I hate(and I don't use this word often) the gold lame.

I think that almost everybody agrees that the black unis were the best, but oh well, they aren't coming back. Almost fitting since that team is gone as well. I'm ok with the ones we have now and I actually liked the powder blue ones they wore the season before the gold fiasco. As long as we are done with the gold and DO NOT go back to the checkerboard - I'm good!

Of course, I am not opposed -even a little bit- to a few shirts v skins games!!!:D

The one good thing about TDOS is that we get to discuss things like this instead of more boring things like games! Of course, the sad thing for me - I actually LIKE discussing the uniforms!

Yeah, that makes sense, but it's also insanely stupid when we have Laker uniforms THAT WE WEAR when playing the Lakers.

Well, if we can't go back to black, then maybe we could change it to the red and blue?
That's even less likely than going back to black.

I don't see what everyone hates so much about the Unis. I didn't like them at first, but I've gotten used to them. In the end, I really don't think any of this matters, although I'll grant that it's fair game for TDOS.

What would Lakers fans think in the 80s if their team adopted green and white jerseys? Or fans of the Pacers or Knicks adopting black and red jerseys in the 90s? Its just criminal to be walking around in gold and purple.

Man, those were probably the freaking ugliest jersies in history, rivaled only by our current gold get-up. But yeah, those were the days:). Back then I searched everywhere for a No. 2 half and half jersey.

no way!

the half and half with the checkerboard along the side were awesome, ive been wanting them to bring those back for years...

Just because it’s a simple subject doesn’t mean that it’s a stupid one. When the Angles changed their name to “The Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim” there was an uproar and supporters of the name criticized everyone because it’s “just a name,” but it’s more than a name – it represents the people of the town and I think it’s dismissive to say “it’s just a name” or “it’s just a uniform.” I don’t know about you, but I hate it when Sacramento is represented in ANY form of negativity.

The Angels deal was a total insult both to the city/people of Anaheim and the intelligence of the rest of the world.

BINGO, Yahtzee, Uno, Sorry! and other various exclaimations

If you're color blind, do things with an "absence of color" appear invisible?

Hmmm...points to ponder. One of the guys I work with is color blind and we goof on him all the time. :p

I don't think Arty Moreno cares too much about the people of Anaheim or the city. He changed the name to generate national publicity, which the Angels sorely need.
