New Uniforms?

I like the fact that the road jerseys have "Sacramento" on the front. It takes advantage of the opportunity to promote the city to a national audience. The city - not just the team.

DOES ANYONE REMEMBER THE OLD JERSEYS THE KINGS WORE FOR LIKE A YEAR THAT HAD THE CHECKERED DESIGN DOWN THE SIDE WITH THE PURPLE AND BLACK SPLIT ALMOST DOWN THE MIDDLE? THAT WAS THE YEAR THEY WENT TO THE PLAYOFFS WITH MITCH, OP, BRIAN GRANT AND ROONEY.

Sorry, I'm what you would call a relatively newbie Kings fan. Been watching since 2000 and sadly prior to that I didn't even watch the NBA, save for a few Bulls games during the MJ years.

So were we forced to give up the black uniforms for the purple ones or is it just a matter of not being allowed to go back after making the change?

Don't be surprised if you see these jerseys make a comeback. They're old enough now to be considered retro.

;)

P.S. and you do know all caps comes across as shouting on the Internet, right?

Yeah...I'm calling out for a throw-back to the good 'ol days when our uniforms were better than the team on the court. Of course I want the Kings to be a quality team as far as play on the court goes...but now some sweet uni's like those from the '95-96 team would compliment it all, and I think...make the team more marketable!

I don't think player's jerseys would sell as much (Lebron, Kobe, DWade, etc.) if their uniforms were ugly. Each one of those teams made their uniforms a lot more attractive and marketable when marquee talent descended upon their franchise. For that reason...I exclaim, "BRING BACK THE CHECKERBOARD UNI'S! They weren't around long enough to truly catch on!"

I still like these

So, how much bluemoon innovation stock do you own, Ryan?

;)

That logo has to be one of the ugliest things ever.

For people who don't know, this was a fan design posted a long time ago. As far as I know, it was never under serious consideration by the Kings.

Didn't the Steelers use their black jersies to intimidate other teams, i remember hearing that black was a color used to intimidate....I love the way black unis look like with Kings written on the front.

Yeah, black is a great color. Yes, some people think it's intimidating. Yes, the Kings black uniforms were cool.

We all pretty much agree. I don't recall anyone saying much negative about them.

The problem is STILL that the league office says we can't go back to them. That's where it ends.

i'm kinda lost in the jersey banter. did the league say we couldn't go back to black jersey's period? or did they say that we couldn't go back to the black jersey's of the late 90's? it seems silly to me that the league would eliminate one of the team's colors for primary jersey coverage.

The league has said we cannot use black as a jersey color at this point in time. They might change their minds at some point in the future. They may have, in fact, some kind of timetable for allowing teams to use black. All that we know for sure is that pretty much everyone from Joe and Gavin Maloof all the way down to the towel boy for the Kings and several retailers I know have said that the league will not allow us to have black jerseys. I don't think it can be put out there much clearer than that.

Black jerseys for the Sacramento Kings aren't on the horizon right now.

I personally think those are worse than the baby poop gold jerseys.

At least they don't make us look like the Lakers the way the Gold jerseys do. I hope that was a one year craze or an experiment or something.

To say the least...I don't mind the idea shown by R@CU. Fix the logo or keep the current one and you're on to something.

Those split-screen, checkerboard jerseys just might be appearing again. ;)

I think I heard there's a three-year commitment to the gold jerseys. I hope the poor response to them can overcome that.

The Spurs wear black. I think there are one or two others.

Off the top of my head, Heat and 76ers. Bulls might sometimes bring back their blacks, no? Oh, TWolves, too. Boston also has those black alternate unis. Oh, and Portland.

More than I originally figured.

Yeah buddy! Now that's what I'm talking about!

OK, I was trying to remember these and couldn't - figured out that this was because I was living in Orange County those years and couldn't watch the Kings. :(

I thought I was losing it for a minute when I read about the "checkerboard" jerseys and had no idea what was being discussed....

I'd like our current jerseys more if they actually had our logo and the old numbers on them like the checkerboard/ black ones.

(and I liked the checkerboard unis)

The Gold jerseys were just for last year celebrating the sixth man I doubt they bring them back next year. VF21 how do you get all your info and know all this about the uniforms and what is allowed and what isn't? Or is it if you told me you would have to kill me? lol Do you know people in high places?

I remember liking them at the time, but now they just look ridiculous.
