New Possible Starting Lineups?

PG - Collison, Temple, I. Cousins
SG - Affalo, Bogdan, Ben, Malachi, Temple
SF - Gay, Casspi, Barnes, Butler
PF - Willie, Tolliver, Skal, Dukan
C - Big Cuz, Koufos, Big Papa

With no trades I guess- no suspension ______________ Cut/waive.next yr:

PG DC,Temple __ Deep Bench__ I Cuz (Suspension)
SG Affalo,Ben______________ Malachi_________ Bogdan next yr
SF Gay,Casspi______________ Barnes __________ Butler waive
PF WCS,Tolliver ____________ Skal ____________Dukan waive
C Big Cuz,Kosta_____________ Big Papa

Give me at least another week and I'll come up with something...

Will have to wait on any trades.

Should know:

C- Cuz
PF- WCS (slight possibility this changes via trade, and Willie is first big off bench)
SF- Gay (pending his possible trade)
SG- Afflalo
PG- Collison (unless we trade for a starter ahead of him)

It seems unlikely at this point, but nothing we've done so far would keep us from trotting out a similar core lineup as we did 2 years ago, with upgrades at the weakpoints: Cuz/Gay/DC with WCS and Afflalo in place of JT and Ben.

More likely, it seems probably at this point Rudy is going to be traded, and with Omri's strong performances as a starter/spacer, and Barnes' acquisition, it doesn't look like we'd need to be bringing back another SF in return. So I would guestimate Omri as the starting SF. And right now we seem at least a major backup PG short, and quite possibly a starter again to put in front of DC (who may have also weakened his case by likely startign the season suspended).

Barnes, Tollison, Temple are veteran bench moves rather than starters. If Gay/Ben/Koufos are truly trade chips A possible lineup might be:

Starters
C- Cuz
PF- WCS
SF- Omri
SG- Afflalo
PG- (in trade)

Bench
C- Big Papa
PF- Tolliver
SF- Barnes
SG- Temple
PG- Collison

Deep Bench/Reno
Skal
Malakhi
Cousins? Gudiatis? kids

And if that bench etc. looks suspect, its because it is. Then again, if we actually used all of Rudy/Ben/Koufos to madke a trade it seems either the PG would be a fairly significant one, or more help might come with him. You can try to pencil in names like Rubio, Dragic, Tyreke, Knight, Bledsoe etc. and see how each looks.

Darren Collison / Garrett Temple / Isaiah Cousins
Arron Afflalo / Garrett Temple / Malachi Richardson
Omri Casspi / Matt Barnes / Caron Butler
Willie Cauley-Stein / Anthony Tolliver / Skal Labissiere
DeMarcus Cousins / Kosta Koufos / Georgios Papagiannis

I'm withholding Rudy Gay and Ben McLemore because I think they're basically trade chips. Until that materializes into an upgrade at the 1 or 3, I would have Casspi and Barnes split the SF position, while Collison and Temple split the PG position. Yes, we all know that Collison is likely to serve a multi-game suspension this year. So we will rely on Temple and iCousins more than otherwise during that period (this is where Seth could have gotten his chance, but oh well).

Have no idea about:
Duje Dukan - is he still on Vlade's radar as our (eventual) stretch 4?
Eric Moreland - really disappointed that his injuries (over 2 years) prevented him from showing us what he can do for us in the NBA. Like Acy, he is probably not a King this year. However, I wouldn't mind seeing Dukan and Moreland as the 4 and 5 in Reno this year in the hopes that one or both are ready for prime time about when we might need them (due to injuries or whatever).
Bogdan Bogdanovic - if he comes this year, I'd slot him in #2 at the SG spot. Looking forward (in a contained excitement sort of way) to seeing what this guy can do for us!

I'm telling you:

Congratulations on a successful trade

This trade checker isn't updated look at the least of players they have for us- we don't have capspace so we can't do the Bogut-KK swap.
We can make the Suns trade, but I'm not sure why would they want Rudy since if they are moving these guys it seems like they are in the path for tanking.

The theory around Phoenix is that they need to clear up one of those guard spots for Booker, and this would be a way to a) get rid of the longterm financial obligation to Knight, as Rudy would likely opt out next summer to chase a big contract, and b) get a stable major scorer to patch a hole while the kiddies matured. A tough limited roleplayer like Tucker really doesn't belong with a youth movement. Also get another kiddie of course in Ben to experiment with.

The best part of this trade is that the Warriors have to trade Bogut for NOTHING (or, say, draft picks) in order to sign Durant. By cleverly trading them $8M of salary, we prevent them from signing KD. Devious. Hopefully they don't catch on.

Edit: This could be done on a three-team deal, where the Warriors send Bogut to us, we send Koufos into Team X's cap space, and Team X sends picks to the Warriors. But it seems more likely that the Warriors will find a cap space taker on their own.

I did not put Barnes in a lineup because I'm not sure which position he will play here would he get burn over McLemore? Probably. Over Casspi? Depends on the situation. However, Barnes will play and probably at least 20 minutes per game.

I've actually had a hard time deciphering the bench. I think the current starters are set but the bench is shallowly deep, as in there are some good pieces but there are also talented young players that could use some burn. I think, currently, Temple, Koufos, and Casspi are definitely 2nd 5 guys. I also think Barnes has to get on that 2nd 5. If he can play any 2-guard, you have to give him burn there or you play small and put Casspi at the stretch 4 and Barnes at the 3.

Too early for that, let's get a trade done and then re-visit. Regarding bringing in Knight, if the Kings can't acquire Bledsoe, then I wouldn't be mad at getting back Knight and PJ...PJ is a Brahma bull.
