New CBA could let Kings carry 15 players

Thanks to Larry Coon, an expert on the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), he provided the following info expected to be part of the new CBA. The impact of this changes the way we can look at team size, they can carry up to 15 players, PLUS teams can send two players they signed to NBDL teams. And their is no injured reserve, virtual and otherwise.

The new agreement isn't out yet, so anything thus far is strictly word-of-mouth. What I've heard so far is:
a) Injured Reserve is being replaced with "Inactive Reserve" (injuries no longer required);
b) Minimum 13 players active + inactive;
c) League guarantees an average of 14 players per team (no indication yet of the mechanism they will use to ensure this);
d) NBA teams will be able to send up to two players in their first two seasons to the NBDL, along with one coach (no word yet of recall mechanisms);
e) The two NBDL players are in addition to the (up to) 15 active + inactive.

I can see where the Kings now could have one or two "bubble" players upgrade their game and get minutes in the NBDL plus carry one or two more good bodies on the bench. Sure will change how I now look at their moves and acquisitions.

Provlem is that given our reluctance to even carry so many as 12 at times in the last few seasons, I doubt we're suddenly going to be willing to carry extra significant players.

And extra minutes for players that don't deserve it. We had a hard enough time getting everyone their minutes last year. I can't envision a 14 man roster being good for the Kings.

....Will this effect the all-star game? Not that I really care about it, but does it mean more all-stars will be selected? Most likely not, but any word on this issue?

Yah I just don't see the Maloofs wanting to have that extra salary. I'm excited about the NBDL thing that they put in. I think it is going to be awesome to be able to send those players that never play to the NBDL to develop. Maybe if we did that Gerald would be a star for us right now. Who knows.

I'm curious how the league will guarantee 14 players...what if you're capped out at 13, will the league force you to go over the cap or will they suspend the cap on the 14th player?

I'm pretty sure you already can always sign somebody for the minimum -- that's how teams like ourselves over the cap have been able to add the Eddie House's of the world over the years. So probably just the same thing.

more contracts for dog meat and raw rooks... just a bone for the players union, not exactly going revitalize the Kings.

We will be very lucky if the Maloofs pay for 10 useful players. Fifteen is ridiculous. You might as well suit-up a few of the Royal Court Dancers.

Remember when there were more RCD? They cut down on the number of them too.

It says "League guarantees an average of 14 players per team..." That leaves a lot of room to speculate that some teams will be able to carry 13 and some 15, provided the league average is 14...

I can deal with the on the court mediocrity, midget front lines, getting killed on the boards by Joel Przybilla and Chris Kaman, skyrocketing ticket prices, horrible PR related to the building of a new arena and a general malaise descending on the franchise.

But, when you start messing with the Roylal Court Dancers HEADS ARE GOING TO ROLL!!!
