I don't particularly remember that being the dominant direction of the conversation around here.

Yeah, we might have been the only ones with hope. You traveled around to the national forums at all and...jeesh, the Rondo as done/cancer narrative was so oft repeated it had become simple fact in many weak minded eyes.

Yeah, you come to expect that after a while around here. Bottom line, though, is that Kings fans have gotten used to and actually brace for the anxiety, angst and angina. Even now, when there's reason for hope and optimism, it's hard to forget how many times our hearts have been ripped out of our chests, stomped on and handed to us. It's tough sometimes to convince ourselves that those days just might finally be behind us. And the majority of national media is totally and completely clueless - and I think a lot of us actually prefer that.

One thing I can tell you for sure, even after a stellar season with 45 triple-doubles Rajon Rondo will not leave Sacramento, unless Boogie is traded.
He is a thankful and straight person. Thus he gets emotionally affected when his personal bounds to the players he is close to are cut off.
As matter of fact, he took very heavy when the Celtics traded Kendrick Perkins, his best buddy in Boston, to Oklahoma.
He is that kind of guy (and I have the feeling that DMC is very much alike...) that would do anything to win and, if he feels appreciation around him, he would tear himself apart for the cause.
The most ridiculous label they tried to stick on him in DAL was "selfish". Simply ridiculous.
