Nene staying with Nuggets

For that price they can have him. Man that is an expensive frontcourt with him, Camby, and K-Mart. Then throw in 'Melo's $80 million dollar deal. Yikes!

I also wonder what this means about Bonzi. They said they're trying to re-sign Reggie Evans, and since I'm pretty sure they don't have his bird rights they'd have to dip into their MLE. Nene would be the only player the Kings would want in a S&T, although I suppose a Bonzi/Nene S&T will still technically be possible in 45 days.

So realistically, there goes another potential Bonzi suitor.

6 years 60 million?!?!?! what are they, nuts? knee surgery and, for the most part, unproven talent is not worth 60 million. not even close.

You slide his numbers out to 35min or so and you get a 15pt 8reb type big man. Its overpaying, but heck not THAT much more than our own 15pt 8reb big man, and with far more potential.

I respectfully disagree, Brick. In the 03-04 season, he averaged 32.5 minutes per night and averaged 11.8 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Slide that out to 35 minutes and it's going to be 13 points and seven boards.

Another horrible contract in my opinion. by the third year, guaranteed the Nuggets will be looking to trade this bloated contract for some cap space. With his numbers 6 years, 40 million, maybe....definitely not 6 years at 60 million.

....Let me go ahead and question my own response to Brick here...lol....remember the year before Peja broke out the Kings gave him a 6 year 43 million dollar deal without the numbers.

Even so....he (Nene) missed games to injury in 04-05 and tore up his knee this past year. Just fail to see the wisdom in this deal.

Look at his 04-05 year. He averaged 9.6 ppg 6 rebounds in 24 minutes per game. So he has a lot of potential

Interesting note that I thought might be worthy of reviving this old thread over: according to the Denver paper there apparently have STILL been teams calling the Nuggets and trying to work out a sign and trade even after they announced he was coming back for the $60mil contract. That's interesting, because you wonder wehther we might be one of them. Also unfortunately have to wonder if Bonzi could be in the midst of it.

Nice little capper too: apparently if a sign and trade WERE to go through, the contract would be raised to $70 million.

Is the kind of thing you could almost see Petrie invoilved in ala the SAR situation last year. Ditto the Wilcox deal in Seattle. We are always into busted deals and unhappy campers. Heck, maybe we could get both. ;)

Interesting stuff, Brick.

But, giving up Nene to us for Bonzi, while them still having K-Mart would be odd from a Denver stand-point.
